    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

So I've been riding the Terra for about 2 weeks now and aside from the lean condition off idle stuff, I've noticed this bike runs hot. Almost to the point of being alarming.
Just riding through Atlanta, my fan kicks on at every stop light and the temp bar is 3/4 full. I was fine with that until I pull into my house, get off the bike and take about 2 minutes to get the bike up the ramp into my basement and it overheats. The heat gauge was maxed out and flashing and the exclamation mark with the triangle around it on the warning lights was flashing. This is winter...granted it was in the upper 50s yesterday when I was riding.
Is this bike even going to function in a Georgia summer or am I going to continually over heat it?
 
OK this worked for me. I checked the fluid levels in the overflow tank and it was fine. Then I took the radiator cap off and found the level low. I think this is caused by a air lock. With the main cap off and the overflow cap off the water in the main tank Will start to rise. Let it fill and put the main cap back on. Then top off your overflow tank. Now you should be good to go.
Do this when engine is cold and the engine off.
My temp never gets close to overheating now.
 
I ride a lot in the city (Los Angeles) and eventhough the fan kicks in quite a bit when I'm in stop lights, haven't had a heating problem. The temp Gauge does go up to about 3/4 high but not to an alarming situation.

Yep i have a little suspicion regards the cooling systems. Seems there may be a gremlin or two in that department. I read gscrasher has already replaced a thermostat under warranty. But the point Pepe made above has also played out on mine. Similarly to yourself my bikes temp would spike when sitting in traffic, even just slow moving. Dealer resolved the airlocked system and added coolant accordingly. But i'm not totally clear it's worked out. Much will tell once folks get out exploring come summer time. But hopefully i'm wrong!

On the BMW 650 there is an air bleed screw on the right side of the cylinder. However, there is no bleed screw on the Huskys. To fill one with coolant we had to add a little, crank it over, and fill again in order to get the radiator filled.
 
WE have same trouble getting air bubbles out of some of the BMW650s ,had to lean them over and pump the hoses.
 
I had some issues last year, one of them the bike was low on coolant from the get go. Then the cooling fan gave up the ghost in March this year at MarchMotoMadness.It was a bit of aggravation trouble shooting the systems, the online svc manual wasn't that helpful, it did steer me to trouble shoot the relays and the temp sensor. I also got out my old school coolant checker to find it was way below the temps it should cover. To make matters worse I visited my dealer to find there was NO listing for the fan on the OE fiche or computer. I did a net search for the model number on the fan that led me to the mfg out in Ankney, Iowa. They don't do phone sales but have a comprehensive list of fans on their site Spal.com
So after an order placed three days passed new OE fan in my hands I began install. Problem occurred here because of the connections, not same as OE. The fan came with a "weather pack" connector. I found compatible connector at a local parts store and replaced the one from Husky. No real warranty concerns here bike is now past warranty. New fan was about $80. US incl frt.
With the new fan on my attentions turned to the coolant. Several have not liked the engine Ice I used but I also added some Red Line "water wetter" its a surfactant. makes liquids move through the system more efficiently. Repairs effected, working fine now even though the Terra is hot blooded in slow stuff the fan kicks in as it should....As far as I'm concerned all is well in my little world and enjoying my Terra as much as when new....
