• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What warranty work did your new TE511 need?
this has gotten ugly with my dealer. to be blunt their was a green pool of oil on my garage floor....and on the bike everywhere leaking.........I took it to dealer and he said , he would look at it but only if he could do it on the bed of my new pickup truck........I refused that , saying I wanted it off my truck.......I drove all the way from des moines to minneapolis to tentatively give him the bike back for a 750 dollar penalty (including the pipe cost loss)........I didn't trust him at all after he told me that a customer of his took a stock te511 from minneapolis to texas..........and I straight up told him that I didn't believe him...I did have a long talk with his salesman, and we did conclude that the new ktm and the old te 610 would be redundant.....and that it might be good to sell the old te............we then concluded that the new te511 might do better on gravel roads versus the new ktm...........I was extremely upset that they sold me the bike on the premise that it is a dual sport which I dispute.......I believe its a dirt bike with plates......and after discussion , I asked them......"don't you want me to leave here happy"......I dont think the owner of the dealership really cared one bit..........I then asked them........2 things............one, I will buy an oil filter from you......and I have oil in car........I cant figure out how to change oil......can you change my oil with my parts..........and I watch so I will know how to do it.............AND i asked him to address the green oil leak all over my engine. and floor...........the owner said no.............he did agree to look at the green oil problem if he did it on the bed of my BRAND NEW STX PICKUP TRUCK...........and I told him I wanted to take the bike off so he could address the issue properly.........he said no............that he was done............at that point I called the police and they came........the owner came laughing out to the local cop (like this had happened before) and the buddys proceeded to tell me to move along.........just to be on record here.......I feel i had a warranty issue with puddles of green oil and the dealer refused to address it............he is now threatening me with a restraining order.............so much for my warranty?

At what point does not getting the answer you want from a dealer warrant calling the police?

I suddenly realize why my taxes are so high. :(

I bought a new motorcycle......pools of oil were dripping from the bike. I thought maybe I had blown the engine.? I drove 4 hours to my dealer......my dealer said he would address the leak ON THE BED OF MY PICKUP TRUCK.......that was unacceptable and had no choice but to call the dealers buddy (the cop, this might happen alot with this dealer as he came out laughing).......if I buy a new motorbike with 20 miles on it.......and pools of oil come streaming down the bike..........and I drive 4 hours to see you.......would nt it be good customer service to try ......at least TRY to fix that problem? the dealer didn't care........the warranty on the bike is useless I guess unless i can find another dealer in another state.........just to be on record........I have heard that halls in illinois is a good dealer............and I would assume if I drove 4 hours to them , they would at least take the bike off the truck and look at it........TO BE CLEAR, HALLS IN ILLINOIS FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD AND CAN TELL IS A GOOD DEALER WITH A REPUTATION THEY MAINTAIN........WITH GOOD SERVICE.......THIS IS NOT THE SHOP IM SPEAKING ABOUT HAVING TROUBLE WITH........

When you have a dealer issue, you call the manufacturer/distributor headquarters. In this case, Husqvarna North America. They can handle the dealer for you.

Please keep your 911 calls reserved to emergencies.

You can print this handy dandy little bookmark if you have trouble remembering.

I don't think he said he'd dialed 911, just that he called the police. I did that once at a dealership. The Kawasaki/suzuki dealer was a dork who would only "deal" with prices if you gave him some upfront cash to show you were serious. When the deal didn't happen he would't give me the money back, so I called the police to have him arrested for theft. LOL, that was all it took for him to give the money back.

I sympathize with the poster regarding his bike problems, not all of us are experienced mechanics, and I would think any reputable dealer would swallow his ire even if the problem was minor. After treating a customer like that, at the very least he deserves a nice used brick through his front window late at night! LOL....just kidding, of course.

Taxes are high because most public employee retirement benefit packages (especially fire and police in most cities) have crippled the system, not because the police respond to calls. I worked in the public sector for many years - and saw the progression of long-term costs for relatively early high-pay retirements build momentum to the point where some cities have gone bankrupt.

whats your top end speed on the terra? my new ktm 690 i think top speed is 68.......with rpm on the 5.........5000? seems high .....i want the bike to go to 75.........

From what I remember of the 690, the transmission ratios are similar to the 449/ 511. Close
THE 690 TRANNY IS MORE SPREAD OUT......ITS NOTICABLE ......NOT HUGE BUT NOTICABLE.....THIS IS ONE THING I HATE ABOUT THE 511 ON THE ROAD......THAT CLOSE TRANNY...........ONE REASON IT CAN NEVER BE A GREAT ROAD BIKE......CARS ARE PASSING ME UP DUE TO ME SWITCHIN GEARS SO MUCH.......ON THAT THING.

Please quit shouting. Really. Take your cap lock off. I've been asking very politely and I'm asking politely now. Again. No more posting in all capital letters.
Thank you.

simple for you.....at least now I have a ktm bike. and I believe their are at least 4 ktm dealers in iowa.........their are no husky dealers in iowa, and the one I bought my new te511 from in Minnesota that is leaking green oil........will not give me warranty work on the bike unless I leave it on my truck.........(I guess its too much work to take it off truck?)......so at least I can get help for the ktm..........hopefully husky will if they survive this ktm takeover, start to get a more extensive dealer network..........look online, where ktm dealers are...........everywhere...........look on line where husky dealers are .........not extensive......

Thank you, I have read that in several posts several times. No need to repeat crap over and over and over. Sell the 511, go to KTMtalk.com.

....and I told him I wanted to take the bike off so he could address the issue properly.........he said no............that he was done............at that point I called the police and they came...
You did not get exactly what you want, so you called the police?

You just crossed a line, that should never be crossed.

Good bye.
