As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Here is the new bar and riser set up. I am in a nice comfortable position standing now. I will do the finishing touches on the risers after I ride the bike on Wednsday so if I can machine them lower if I feel they are too tall. I think I will just buff them out a little and clear coat them instead of painting them black or having them powder coated.
You can see the blemishes (release wax stuck in air pockets up top) in the carbon fiber rally screen pretty well in this shot. At least the blemishes are on the inside. This one is going on my buddies Terra in Palmer Lake and he can finish it if he wishes or just leave it. He is more than happy to take my practice parts! He buys me tooling for my efforts. I learned a lot from the first one and the hardest part of making the mold is already done.
I am still waiting for my tubing to make the crash bars. I called them today and they said they haven't gotten the order out and promised it would be out today.
The bike is naked so I can go through it and look for loose fasteners, wire chafing, or anything else that might cause a problem out in the middle of nowhere. Just because its a new bike doesn't mean it's good to go. I have found one problem already with the fuel pump wiring and will list everything I find.

You thought that B & B skid plate was expensive......Lookin' killer Fab! You can put me down for a windscreen if you decide to make a couple extra...Can't wait to see the crash bars you come up with.

You thought that B & B skid plate was expensive....... Have you gotten a chance to thrash it around a bit and test those cold welds and skidder?
$19...Hecks ya!Yeah, I put a couple hundred miles on it this over the weekend. Mostly road - went to my dealer and plugged into the MOSS tool. It made a big difference off the bottom and idle. Haven't done any major hits, but enough to believe that the welds will actually work - until I eat sh*t again! And the skid plate is bad ass. I ordered the lower black shrouds and husky logos and they were only $19 a side! At that price, I can afford some more crashes.![]()
We were very lucky to find these locally. I am not so concerned about those, but I am about the riser bolts. I need four zinc coated socket head bolts 8mm x 1.25 x 90mm. I would prefer at least class 10.9. Do you have any? Everywhere I look, they want me to buy large quantity.Love the rear racks guys. Only suggestion I have is to swap out the bolts at the seat with buttons or cap screws. Buttons are nice and smooth or cap screws you can add vacuum covers to stay from injury.
Fab - you can mount a Scotts stabilizer under those monstrous clamps you have.

Screen #2. This one will have the GPS mount built in and reinforcement for the extra top weight. I originally wanted to do this, so I'm back on track. This is the cleanest way I can come up with to put the GPS exactly where I want it. I think the whole headlight/instrument assembly (what the heck should we call that...a fairing?) will hold up fine. It is also isolated, so the GPS will take less abuse.

I really hope your making extras for us to purchase.![]()

yes please.
Let me think about this. Are you guys liking the basic screens or wanting them with GPS mounts integrated? I have gotten PM's on this stuff as well, so it is something I will consider. Welding something together is one thing, but carbon fiber work is something I only dabble in. These would be expensive, so I would want to turn out a professional product.Hey Fab one, could you make some folding highway bars as well? I plan to be doing some serious trans continental touring this year. Thanks
