As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
I"ve camped off my Terra quite a bit------and had an expedition small duffel on the rear rack full of all my camping gear------tent, sleeping bag, cooking stuff, food, small chair, snacks, odds and ends for camping and it held it fine.
I haven't heard of one of the racks breaking yet----but I guess it could happen with enough weight.
Hey BigDog, did you have any issues with the rack rubbing on the top of the fender?
Mine may just be extra close because I tilted the front of my rack up to clear the mounts for my panniers. I might put a small piece of rubber inbetween the 5/16" bolt and the black plastic piece of the tail just to keep it from rubbing. The good thing is it keeps the plastic rack from vibrating up and down (which may lead to fatigue/cracking).
Hansi...TF #7! Nice mods. I think your wind screen is the most solid I've seen yet. What's next?
I'll be very interested in seeing that fuel tank. I sure wish the original was about that much bigger.Started building an aluminium 1.25 gal aux. fuel tank with the help of the local welding shop, that will mount on top of the luggage rack, plumbed into the bikes fuel tank. 4.75 total gal will get me easy the 250 mile fuel range that I need for my planned trip to South America.
Crashbars and a skid-plate are on the planning board too.
+1! With details please.I'll be very interested in seeing that fuel tank. I sure wish the original was about that much bigger.
Thanks! Yes tig...and it is frustrating because I am not getting any better.Very nice, are you using a TIG? How are you bending the pipes?
Thanks Ken...So, I guess you like it! I was not sure how the badge would go over with you guys. When I am riding, people are always looking at the side of the bike trying to see what it is. The factory markings are not so noticeable, so I thought I would sticka good size logo out there. I put the cut out we used for the kick stand template on there to make it clear what I was up to. Mrs. Fab came into the shop and said "isn't that a Harley logo". She was right, it does look scary like a Harley logo until you put the Husky crown on it.Fab, you are putting us all to shame! Stop it! Any more and I won't be able to sleep at night.... "Fab"ulous job!
Got a little time in on these and added the crossbar and a badge. Next photo will be the finished product...or as BigDog would say "The whole enchilada"! View attachment 24008

You need to make a jig for these so that you can sell them to the rest of us.
