• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TERRAFORMERS

I was thinking the same thing Bigdog. Looks to me like a single gal jug a 93 octane would ride for days/weeks no problem IMHO. Love what you've done BD for the whole D/S community btw..(thread jack..sorry)

I"ve camped off my Terra quite a bit------and had an expedition small duffel on the rear rack full of all my camping gear------tent, sleeping bag, cooking stuff, food, small chair, snacks, odds and ends for camping and it held it fine.
I haven't heard of one of the racks breaking yet----but I guess it could happen with enough weight.

Hey BigDog, did you have any issues with the rack rubbing on the top of the fender?
Mine may just be extra close because I tilted the front of my rack up to clear the mounts for my panniers. I might put a small piece of rubber inbetween the 5/16" bolt and the black plastic piece of the tail just to keep it from rubbing. The good thing is it keeps the plastic rack from vibrating up and down (which may lead to fatigue/cracking).

Made some side-racks today. Just got to get them painted. Not sure if I want to go soft luggage, aluminium or plastic. Used 5/8" and 1/2" soft round stock.

Solid round stock was pretty easy to work with and I think it will be stout enough without being overly heavy.
Did work on a higher windshield setup too, using a piece of aluminium sheet and a powerbronce windshield that I had handy. Had to brace it with some aluminium bar to the mounts of the Cycras.

Works like a charm, no buffeting, keeps the pressure off my chest and head even at good clip

I don't guess I know exactly what you are talking about RE ?????

Hansi...TF #7! Nice mods. I think your wind screen is the most solid I've seen yet. What's next?

Started building an aluminium 1.25 gal aux. fuel tank with the help of the local welding shop, that will mount on top of the luggage rack, plumbed into the bikes fuel tank. 4.75 total gal will get me easy the 250 mile fuel range that I need for my planned trip to South America.
Crashbars and a skid-plate are on the planning board too.

I'll be very interested in seeing that fuel tank. I sure wish the original was about that much bigger.

Got the rack painted with with 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of black semigloss and two coats of clear yesterday and re-installed it this morning for a drive to our local military surplus store. Came back with a set of plastic ammo cans for 25mm shells. Kinda smallish, but they fit the Terra well and you can't beat the $25 price.

Fab, you are putting us all to shame! Stop it! Any more and I won't be able to sleep at night.... "Fab"ulous job!
Thanks Ken...So, I guess you like it! I was not sure how the badge would go over with you guys. When I am riding, people are always looking at the side of the bike trying to see what it is. The factory markings are not so noticeable, so I thought I would sticka good size logo out there. I put the cut out we used for the kick stand template on there to make it clear what I was up to. Mrs. Fab came into the shop and said "isn't that a Harley logo". She was right, it does look scary like a Harley logo until you put the Husky crown on it.

I really like it, including the logo. As for the color, if you could get the red "right", it would really look sharp! However, you'd definitely not be in Stealth mode that way. Black is always good, and you can't go wrong. We are all waiting to see what you do. And, we are all waiting on our own bars from other suppliers, and waiting, and waiting.....
