• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I pre-ordered AltRiders crash bars a couple days ago. I keep coming back to look at FabOneUp's bars it makes me sad. His look SO much better than anything else out there. However, I'm faced with the reality of not having the time nor the equipment to fabricate something like that.

It's really a disservice to the Cafe Husky members that he would make something of such high quality and not offer any for sale... :p

Yep, that jig is the bomb! We just eyeballed it, but got pretty close even though. Looks like you have some nice top lugs turned and in place; gotta have those! 'Can't wait to see the final results.....
 
Necessity is the mother of invention...as they say. I've only got one pair of hands for this project. Sweet Thang refused to sit on a bucket and hold it motionless for hours on end. I said, "but it's my art". She said, "but you're not painting".

I had a hunch I'd lose this debate. Oh well, at least she still makes me cookies occasionally. All hope is not lost...

Hi Guys, I have asked a few of you but though i would make global post as I need to give DID, RAD these dimensions as they looking into make full wheelsets for the Terra/BMW 650 GS - Can you measure the overall lenght of the front / back HUB from side to side for both wheels and let me know, I dont have my bike with me so i cant check. Thanks in advance!
 
Daniel, a follow up on my PM. I would recommend using Woody's Wheels if at all possible. When I had them lace my Terra, I had a chance to look at their version of the RAD hub (cush hub) next to the stock RAD hub. Woody's has RAD make a special version just for them and they have much beefier internal stiffening webs vs the stock RAD. On the cush hub, Woody sez that there have been some failures, therefore the extra material in Woody's version. I think it would be worth the shipping costs.
 
I ride 2-up with my girlfriend quite a bit and I noticed a lot of you gus are using the bolt locations in the front of the rack to mount to. As tall as those adapters are (where the tube welds on)...I wonder if they would be digging into her legs. Have any of you had a pasenger on the back with this type of mounting?

This is Mrs. Fab! IMO that bike is not 2 up friendly. FabOneUp and I rode to the top of Pikes Peak. I'm 5'2 and 125lbs and by the time we got there my knees hurt so bad from constantly trying to push off of him. I hope your modifications will help her to feel more comfortable so that you can continue to ride together, but for me we just went and purchased my own adventure bike so that we can continue comfortably on our adventures!:banana:

Strangely, this is the first bike I've ever owned with a rear seat. I've had a couple before, but the rear seat was the first thing that came off of it and never returned. MrsDonkeys and I both are on the same page. We ride together, but not on the same bike. The only exception being when she agrees to be my DD and takes me out on her Ural. :D

All that said, I just can't see the TR being comfortable two-up. Most 650 class bikes don't look comfortable for a passenger, with the exception being a Wee-Strom. However, I see women riding on the back of sport bikes with their knees up to their chins all the time. It takes all types, I guess.
 
We rode for an hour the other day and she was complaining about her butt and knees being sore.

I had a KLR before the TR and we would ride to the Monterey Bay Aquarium a couple times a month (we are members). One way is about 3 hours and the first two times I got tired of her complaining and moving around so much after the first 30 mins of our rides. I bought a SC seat and after that (prolly 20+ more trips) she never complained again!

I am going to buy an SC seat for the TR in hopes that will remedy the sore butt thing...I wonder if their gripper top material will keep her planted enough to not have to keep pushing off me like you had stated.
