• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The TE630 may be the best adventure touring bike made!

Yep! Go click on Forums at the top of the page, scroll down to General, and there it is..."Get Togethers and Ride Reports." It's kinda my home away from home :D

Edit: I'll probably be starting another ride report there later today :)
I suppose then, that you could move this entire thread to 'Ride Reports.' That wouldn't hurt my feelings any.

Anything 110 km/h and above is very tiring with the stock setup. The Lynx is noticeably more comfortable.

Even a cheap little spitfire sport windscreen or something like this would help...

Note: This is not my bike, I just grabbed these off the web to illustrate the product...

The stock Karoo at 3,000 miles. I really should have had a tire shipped ahead for this trip. This tire caused me a good bit of anxiety and I finally found a replacement tire in Nova Scotia. The Kenda replacement tire was a street tire, it had tread and I had nothing but blacktop between Sydney, NS and New Hampshire, so, it was a real relief!
I believe you just nee to spend more time in corners, there is a lot of km's left in the tire!

There's a KTM dealer right down the street. When I asked them about getting me a 690, they pretty much refused.
Had the KTM dealer not blown me off, I'd probably be riding a 690 right now.

I've never heard of that!!! What was their reasoning?

What they said to me was, "We can't get one of those. You'll have to go to Kansas City for that."

Well geez, if I'm going to have to have a bike shipped to get what I want, I'm going to get what I wanted in the first place, which was the 630. Shot a couple emails to Hall's and they had one shipped to my door.

Sometimes I'm amazed at how difficult it is to give someone money these days.

I just returned from a solo trip to Canada along the Trans Labrador Highway on my TE 630. Just over 3100 miles round trip. I had zero issues with the bike. I adjusted the chain once and lubed it every day, other than that it performed flawlessly! I am very impressed with this bike!View attachment 10753View attachment 10754

Is there anything about the Lynx Fairing you don't like?? I'm leaning towards getting one. Was it easy to install?

I have a dual-HID Lynx on my 630. Love the light output!
Installation is dead easy, especially if you take the tank off.

The Lynx does make getting to the ignition key a bit of a hassle, especially with gloves on.
I just made the ignition relief in the dash larger.

I think Brittania mentioned that the installation instructions have changed regarding using a dedicated ground wire running back to the battery. The instructions I have indicate grounding to the top triple.

I'm interested in that windshield. Can you reply with a link?

Google is your friend. Just about every e-tailer sells them. They are generally mounted on cruiser bikes. Maier also makes one that a few of the riders have used, also seem to work pretty well. And Twisted Throttle has the MRA screens, the RO has been mounted and photographed here too.

I'll have an update shortly on my Turbo City Racks thread as they are fabricating brackets for the 630 to mount their windshield product. Thread link here:

Hey, CJBROWN, certainly I know how to use Google.. I found many e-tailers as you wrote, but still looking for the manufacturer's site for the SpitFire windshield. If you can't find it, I'll do something else. No worries.

The spitfire works great. It is real nice on the longer road rides and in the cool weather. It comes off in less then 10 seconds if wanted. Seems much less tiring riding on the road with the windshield on.

I see many different Spitfires and mounting options. What is your model and mount options?
