• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

the WHT Husky obsession, spotted at Glen Helen.

Beta is a great little Italian Company and Beta USA is being run a lot like Ferracci ran Cagiva USA. The Beta 250RR is a great bike and on my short list to own, but I have to say... When I rode one,it felt and handled an awful lot like my Husaberg and not a lot like my Italian Huskys. I told rasputin this and he said why wouldn't it? It's designed by guys who have either worked at or with KTM for years. KTM is their target bike, not Italian Husqvarnas. The Beta has some definite design improvements over the KTM family of 2T bikes. With Beta it seems you're buying the "Italian" as the brand and with the Austrian Husky, you're buying the "Husky" as the brand.... I'll shut up now!:oldman:
Ok, so thanks in part to me this thread has been badly derailed, but it is cold outside and this seems to be a topic we love to discuss.
Yes Norm, I have leaned toward the side of owning a bike built by a small Italian bike company rather than sticking with the nameplate I had grown to love and I realize many will stick with their brand(Husqvarna) and they will be great bikes.

I'm having a great time with this discussion. If I can't be riding them, I'll be talking about them.... It's a beautiful obsession!:busted:

still no moisture (thats the biggest whine here in the SW corner)......its been 65-85 here almost every day in Jan so far, so nice its stupid, except for the dusty dryness.

It's been awesome here. That global warming is really making an impact up here...NOT! -30f wind chill again tonight and tomorrow. I really don't mind it being cold now but come March it had better start warming up. Last year was crazy stupid cold into June. End rant

Same here, but supposed to be a small window Saturday in the 20's. It probably won't get that high though...
Not enough snow for snowmobiling. Right now 45 degrees F and rain in June will suit me, just fine.

I can't comprehend that, it rains so much here in the winter and spring we sometimes stay home so we don't damage the trail.

Regardless of your obsessions, I can tell you that the orange community is pist, whew are they pist. I heard someone shouting out that they were the low grade, inferior model to ktm. I had to perform my civil duties and remind them that all the trick new items are on the Husky's, that's the way it's always been, even when they were Italian.

This is exactly the tiger-tail that SP is hanging on ... I'm still saying this marriage is not made in heaven ...

It was reported here once that Husky has a 100% different supply chain than ktm ... And for whatever reason they did this, it also makes a break between the 2 brands much easier in the future ... SP has got plenty up his sleeve ... :)

If Husky is to stand on its own, we need a fight each day in that company (that outsiders will probably never hear about) between the VPs that are in charge of making each brand. You gotta remember Husky sits on the same level as ktm in the company structure. Bergs were never on the same company level ... So, if nothing else, they never had the same $ and VP push as Husky has from day 1.

If may take ~5 yrs before all this plays out and we see where all this is heading ... Sales numbers of the different brands are the driving point of all this ... If ktm sales numbers decrease 1 bike ... Someone inside that company is not gonna like it ... :)

I don't want a "premium" brand, KTM's are already expensive enough. I want direct competition, hopefully the competition part will happen eventually.

It's hard for me to get over the prices when I was buying new sport bikes a few years ago for a grand less then a FE501. (Can't believe what they cost now lol). That's what happens when you leave the motorcycle world for a little while. Dont get me wrong, people beg for better and this happens and I'd still love to have one at 10k but in reality I'm an inferior rider that will have to make due on an inferior Italian Husky :). Oh and even though I joke about the new bikes, I love the look. I still think I could beat Jarvis at KOM if I had a TE300 lol
