• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thinking about a new bike. Suggestions???

Cosmo you have finally convinced me. Soooo after a loonng think, ive decided I will keep the big red girl for a bit longer and try a power commander on it. I will try and sell the JD on ebay or somewhere. Do I need autotune or should some of the downloadable maps be right to go? Or should I get it dyno tuned? (gotta think of the bottom dollar though remember).

And does anyone know any cheap places to buy one? Would like to keep it cheap as possible, $300 area if possible. The secondhand one that cosmo posted for $180 has been sold.....serves me right for rooting around about my decision!! I should have bought it as soon as I saw it....

Yes if you can start with the maps from this site: ZipTy Husqvarna Factory Powercommander 5 Race maps

If you are even contemplating a dyno tune, just spend that money on the autotune. Try to get your dealer to put map #3 on your ECU to start with, or send it to ZipTy for re-flash.

I bought the PCV from Motomummy just before:banana:cant wait to put it on!! this has got me all exited about the husky again! :applause:

I thought Motomummy had an awesome deal on the module and the switch, it said $353, and I was very happy with that! went to pay for it and I forgot about the bloody exchange rate at the moment! $1 AUS = $0.73 US currently, cost me $482 instead:censored:but im still very happy cos soon I will have the bike that I have been wanting:love:

Instead of buying a TCairbox, would it be fine if I drilled 10 or 11 20mm holes in the current TE box? And then rivet some fine steel mesh on the inside....

Sorry its taken a while to give you all a report on the bike, have been quite busy. So I have decided to keep the husky for the time being, and continue to see if I can get it sorted properly. I removed the flap in the throttle body, opened up the airbox and installed a PCV. The PCV has a switch, and it has Tinkens experimental map and the factory Zipty map loaded (one hardcore and one softer). I have been for one ride and....i looooove it!! It pulls waaay harder everwhere, is snappier and just generally goes like a shower of shit. I would like some more balls sometime, but at the moment its so much better than what it was before I am happy for the time being. I wouldnt mind getting it dynoed again, and getting it dialed in perfect.
I do have only one problem at the minute though. I had to take out the bottom fuel tank when I put the PCV in, and although I thought I connected it properly again, theres something wrong. Fuel wont transfer from the main tank to the bottom tank, I thought there may be a kink in the hose but there isnt. The two taps (I suppose they are called taps) on each tank are wide open so I guess it isn't that. The bike has run out of fuel, the bottom tank is dry, but when you open the fuel cap, the main tank is still brimming full. Any help with this is appreciated.
