  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Tire recommendations for WR150?

S12's rule the roost in my part of the country. We have a lot of roots and off camber, with a lot of clay. The clay has minimal traction wet or dry and at its worst when it just gets a little wet on top and turns to "ice". Rocks are mostly in creeks, but we do long runs down them. Some guys run M12 fronts and some S12's. With the old style 2 stroke frame ('00 WR250, '02 WR125) I'd run M12 when it was dry for better feel and S12 in the wet. With the new frame on the '09 WR125, I can run a S12 wet or dry and get consistent front end feel.

have you ever tried a terrapactor?

That being said everyone likes a different tire...its like arguing about premix or grips....I am very heavy on the front tire....need a positive feel on the front...I couldnt stand the S12...to be honest I wish I could still get 756s...once you find a tire combo that works for you stick with it...

for sure

Motoz Terrapactor have become my hands down favorite tires for that type of riding. Not sure who in Canada deals them but they are VERY good. Last a long time and hook up like crazy on roots, rocks and clay base.

What size do you recommend for newer WR 250's? 120 x 18 or 130 x 18 in motoz?

They just are not very easy to get here... I want something I can drive and get.... If I chunk a knob, slice one or get a thorn I don't want to run something else....

I won a set of motoz from braaap, havnt gotten them yet, for my cr144 in the northwest woods what would be the best rear choice in 19"?? I got punked sunday on some primo secret single track running my trials tire.

The Terrapactors are the PERFECT tire for the 125/144/165 IMHO the 19" works great.

Michelin m12 front and s12 rear works for me on all my bikes and all conditions! Those terrapactors look good though:thumbsup:

I run the S12 rear, matched with an MH3 front as my default choice.
I prefer the feel of the MH3 over the M12, particularly when the edges are gone. In theory, the MH3 could be more prone to flats (particularly pinch flats) but I don't seem to have a problem with flats regardless of the tyre.

The S12 front is at its best on a well prepared MX track - dirt that has enough give for the knobs to bites into, but is still firm enough to support them. I prefer a fresh MH3 in sand and mud (worn, they're about equal IMHO). There is a school of thought that says the S12s only tear knobs when the suspension is too stiff and/or they're over-inflated. I can't really comment, but it does fit with my experiences.

The S12 rear is the best combination of performance and longevity I've found. They actually survive sharp rocks remarkably well - rocks seem to cut the knobs, rather than wearing them or tearing them off.

Never been a fan of any of the Motoz tyres, esp in the wet.

As for size, I'm a firm believer in 100/100x18s (120/90 in Michelin sizing) or 100/90x19s on 125s, but I fitted a Michelin 130/80x18 (110/100 in normal sizing) to my XC150 and I love it.

I have never had a s12 rear chunk knobs and they hold up really well in trail conditions. I have been happy with them on a kx250 2-stroke and my husaberg 450 four-stroke. I prefer the m-12 on the front due to the s-12 has taller knobs and it felt like they squirm too much in corners on harder dirt. 13 p,s.i. front and 12 p.s.i. rear does the trick!

Interesting... I tried and MH3 and thought it was the nuts. until it got a little wear and then it didn't seem as good.

I can destroy S12's in one ride. They sure do not like rocks. IMHO the terrapactors are FAR better. Get better traction, last way longer and continue to hook up like crazy even well warn. My opinion only.

It took my son two rides to destroy the M12's on his TM250. Now it was a MX track that has a few rocks :D. We have the Motoz on our TC250 and my 144 and they have been working great and still going. My only problem with the Motoz......finding them :).

I would try the motoz if I could find them here as well! I will do some searching and maybe get lucky, I would like to try a set some time!:)

Just found out that motovan carries motoz tires here in canada! Find a shop that deals with them and you should be good to go!:applause:
