• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

tire swap..... time!

hey Pvduke tha "o" ring idea is a good one, never thought of that. I will do it at the next change over. Thanks for the input, I hope your stem and nipples are better.

Converted the rear to a Tubliss with a Dunlop trials D803 two nights ago. Two hours, including the three minutes spent inspecting my chin for damage after smashing it with an 18" tire iron.

I am the world's worst motorcycle tire changer.

I am reading this thread and realize how spoiled I have become:p.....I have been using the euro tire machine at work for many years now.....impossible to pinch a tube and takes no time at all
love those black rims.....but hate to see the scratches....got a few bends in em too...oh well

talc if you can find it...is better than baby powder

I have a front and rear to swap out this afternoon. Don't know how long it'll take as I usually only change tires about once a year. I generally dawdle around when I'm doing these jobs, so there won't be any records set for fastest time..........

I don't go by time. For me, better units of measure include tools thrown, knuckles busted, or swear words created. How long the cat hides afterward is a good measure, too.

The two tires I changed on Saturday took me probably 3-3 1/2 hours total. I'm no expert and I generally don't try to hurry these types of jobs. These were last changed in the fall of 2008 so they've had lot's of time to get good and 'comfortable' on the rims - if you get my drift.

I spent a lot of time cleaning the rims once the old tires were off, as there was a lot of caked on gunk in there and I also use 2 rimlocks on the rear which complicates things a bit. Took my time, only had to swear a couple times and no pinched tubes.

I've watched Allan Lachappelle and Patrick Beaule( 2 French Canadian racers) change tires in ~2-3 min. incl. R&R from the bike. Fun to watch.
