I haven't played with the TPS too much yet, just enough to make the backfiring go away.
Roughly 420 total miles on the bike.
I've got all the extra emissions garbage off it and in a box in the garage
..installed the titanium and carbon fiber exhaust rather than just popping out a screen on the stock can because the blue FMF looks better
but to get to the point, this bike HAS to have more top end power then mine currently does!
I know the air intake is very restricted by the tight composite airbox, and I (guess I) dont mind cutting holes in the cover/sidepanel if it's well accepted and recommended.
(Three 1" holes along the top of the panel seems to be most common, although I read somewhere recently that six or seven is the magic number)
I would be using some type of oiled filters, not just a riveted mesh screen I don't think.
I'm just trying to dial things in. I don't (really) want to run it clear up to redline but what is redline on these bikes anyway?
My guess is they should hit a limiter around 10,500 rpm.
I'm sure it's a safe 2-3k away from where it could be and peak power is probably made around 8-9k rpm.
It can't be where I was though, chugging along with stock gearing in fourth gear.
Noticed today while working on wheelies that the bike really cuts out above 7k (my guess, she's starving for air).
I know I REALLY need to learn to shift on one wheel lol but I'm guessing on the exact RPM because the display lacks a Tach.
BTW I'm at sealevel or riding within a thousand feet of it 90% of the time and run 91-92 pump gas with octane boosters and ethanol shield type additives almost every tank.
(best I can do in CA) Thanks for reading all this, look forward to reading the replies! -Tyler
