I don't see why not.
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Seems like the racks are simple enough that they just require a pipe bender and welder. You can design and order the brackets they are cheap but everything else it would seem to be cheaper to make yourself.
Yesterday I called Altrider to cancel my crash bars and was told they will ship next week.Altrider site still says 6-30-2013 ship date. I'm going to wait until next Friday and see.
Since yesterday morning 2 people said they were told they are shipping next week and 2 people were told 4-6 weeks from yesterday.Hey Kenneth, I just called and the lady said they are shipping on the 26th June - no changes expected.
That was the date you ordered and pre-paid for you ALT rider crash bars?I ordered my bars on Creation Date 2013-03-22 08:16:12
To those of you who have switched your crash bars from Altrider to sw-motech, do you believe them to be of equal quality and protection?
From what I'm seeing the quality and protection of something is better than nothing, seems to be the trend.
It's pretty disappointing to see this all play out, we've got a company that wants to bring products out for this bike, they sponsored this little site and came on here to get the customer opinions and get involved with the community. The TR might be the hottest selling Husky, but let's face it, it's still a Husky and there is not a lot of demand. It's expensive to bring new product to market. Pre-orders help offset the initial capital required and to gauge the real demand. I hope all of these cancellations are not going to make them cross this model off their list for future products.
Well, if they show up on my door step before I leave for Colorado, I will certainly be happy and take back everything I said above. But my card has not yet been charged, and they said they would not until the product was shipped. They checked on my name and said 4 to 6 weeks.
