  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tranny locked up on my TE510

Big and Husky

Husqvarna
AA Class
50 miles from the truck, heading back from an excelent day of riding and "bang" my trany locks up. The output shaft is compleatly seezed up!? Had to remove the drive chain to roll the bike. Stashed the bike in the bush as it was getting late and dark. Got a double out of the bush. Whent back the next day with my quad and towed it back to the truck. I still haven't looked at it. I have the knowledge and tools to take it apart but don't have the special tools that I might need. Could this be an easy fix or do you guys think I may need to split the cases? Should I pull the motor and send it to a husky shop for repair? I love my husky but maybe it's time for a new one.The bike starts and the motor sounds as good as ever. Clutch works but it seems the input shaft is also locked up. Any ideas about what may have happened whould be helpfull. Thanks in advance.

I do not believe this, Huskys don't have tranny problems! This is rubbish your speaking!

All joking aside, Ive heard its something to do with the output shaft. Usually requires a complete tear down of the bike and your wallet.

Thnaks for making a new post and goot luck man:thumbsup:

Ya, I took the chain and front sprocket off and hammered on the shaft lightly to try to free it up, but it's dosnt move the slightest bit. It's compleatly locked up. Still trying to figure out what to do:excuseme:

Best bet is to pull it apart. You can get a case splitting tools for about $60, or you can make one with some scrap steel, a drill gun, drills and some long bolts..

You'll also need to pull the flywheel. WWW.oemcycle.com has them for $20 shipped. Or you can run to the dealer and have them pull it real quick.

You'll learn a lot more by looking into it yourself first. If you have questions, ask here or use the repair manuals and parts fiches at WWW.husqvarnaoutlet.com

Ummmm no? I thanked him for making a new post and not grouping his ?'s in with mine on a different post. Then I gave him a  I don't get how you could be confused...?:excuseme: Further-more I gave him and answer to his specific question.

Do you have any prudent info for the post you replied in :doh:or are you looking to grind your ax and start something with me? If you are Iam not looking for drama just trying to help out who I can when I can.

Thanks :)

Thanks J.R. Nothing to report. I havent even looked at my bike since I got it home. I'm sad. The kind of sad that only a brand new bike can cure.

Start tearin into it and see what it costs to fix. If its too much, part it out and you'll be able to sell most if not all your parts fairly quickly
