• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Two vehicles tried to force me off the road

Oh the gun, well if you are caught even with a water pistol that looks like a replica you get min 5 years in prison. So much for protecting the inocent.
I think they call that tyranny. Makes it very easy for ill willed people to prey on others. Just glad you made it through OK.

had something kind of similar happen in desert outside of Las Vegas July '93.
Driving my dads rx7 back from phx some thugs passed me on open freeway in a beat up Ford escort and slowed down to look over the rx7 then sized me up,,,they signaled for me to roll down the window and asked if I was from Washington(as I had those plates on)They then pulled n front of me and tried slowing me down to get me to stop. I promptly downshifted and passed them. What they didn't know was in the truck in front of me my was dad was driving and we where talking with cb's. They tried it again and me and my dad coordinated and closed the gap so they couldnt try and force me to slow down. Instead the had to pass us both and almost got in a head on with a semi.
We stopped in Tonopah to have one of those "phew" moments, Sure enough it happened all over again. These guys where professionals waiting for me somewhere and theres a lot of desert out there. The whole episode happened again with them and me and my dad playing deathwish 2000,
This time I think they made the connection we where driving in a coordinated pair and they stopped their car in the middle of the desert and turned right around.

Wow, WTF is wrong with people.

I know its crazy to think about it because theres lots of desert out there. They could have killed me, stuffed my body and taken the car. Probably wouldnt have been discovered for another 100 years. I remember back then its was a solid 5 hours driving of just absolutely nothing. Not sure what its like now though

Or you can be quiet and sneaky with your silenced .45 auto:

The 7" AR with or without silencer will strap on the side of the bike just fine:

Or if you really want to take charge in the situation bring your SPAS 12. Semi auto 12 gauge goodness with 8 shots fired in under 2 seconds. These shotguns were actually made to be fired with one arm (with the factory hook) so theoretically you can fire this from your bike while riding.

Oh wait, I just saw that you're not in 'Merica. Good luck getting a firearm... get a bat I guess.

I'm glad my commute is mainly through empty desert with no traffic. But I never leave the house without a sidearm, especially living only 2 miles from the Mexican border.

In all seriousness though, I am a firm believer that you do not pull your firearm until you are ready to use it. Guns are not intended to be used for bluffing or intimidation, and that guy on the receiving end might be crazy/skilled enough to relieve you of your firearm and you'd really be up the creek. It's always better to have the element of surprise on your adversary, so don't reveal that you have a firearm until you need it.

And if you actually intend to carry for self defense, get something reliable and easy to train with.

Yes, all of the above pictured firearms are mine, but I don't carry any of them regularly on the Terra. I typically carry a Glock 21 (with or without silencer).

Where is that SPAS 12 gauge available? I have been looking to upgrade my pump action 12 to a semi. I had been eyeing a Saiga, but I live in MD and it is no longer legal to buy one. I did learn I could buy an AKDAL semi 12 because it is not based on a platform that is outlawed. Makes no sense to me, but I would love to find out if I could buy that SPAS. I love that 44 by the way. I make do with a Chiappa Rhino 357 with a 2" barrel for easy stowage.

Just to clarify, looking for a magazine fed 12G semi auto.

I paid the price and got my Spas 12 from GunBroker.com. They were banned for import to the US in the early 90's, so only 1850 or so made it in before that. If you can find one in good shape you'll pay dearly.

The spas 12 won't handle 3" mag loads.. you could do as some have and purchase a Browning AR5 and add a nordic tube extension to give more capacity which is capable of the 3" loads but a Belgium made AR5 won't come cheap. Barrels also swap out quickly for intended purpose.

Nothing beats an M870 when it comes to shotties. You can turn them into just about anything you want with all the accessories that are available for them and they are stone reliable. They always go bang when you need them to.

I have a M870 Marine Magnum that used to be in the boat at all times for protection and the general population control of "sea wolves".
3" 00 buckshot.
