  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

UK insurance - TE310

White Husky

Husqvarna
AA Class
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - I did a search and could not find a thread.

Bennetts say they can't cover my TE310 as it has no ABI (Assocn of British Insurers) code, i.e. it's not 'on their list' of approved bikes.

Just wondering who those in the UK are using to insure their TE310s? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Lucien

hi mate... bennetts are muppets its not that they wont cover you just that there system does not show a te310 someone needs to update it..... i got mine from MCE (0871 222 79 20) first bike on road for many many years
was about £100 TPFT or £170 all in.. cheapest by far.. oh im 38 years young ! includes free breakdown

Hi,

I've cross checked this and it seems Bennetts are incorrect. According to the Thatcham website (Thatcham.org, Thatcham are the people who administer the codes for the ABI) the TE310 has an ABI code of 8050 00 60 which is applicable for models from 2009 on so it seems the broker has an issue with their software rather than the bike not being approved.

I've also run a test quote on www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk (online aggregator) and the TE310 is on their list too.

Hope this helps!

Dave

Thanks all, that's very helpful. I'll try again tomorrow with that ABI number. It's not that I couldn't get it covered, but as soon as you go 'off list' they hike up the price.

£120 fully comp

OK - in case this is useful to anyone:

I got various quotes for the TE310. MCE Insurance turned out to be the best (actually could have got a bit cheaper but not from anyone I've heard of before).

For fully comprehensive cover with 9 years no claims discount, £100 excess, 4,000 miles per year and including breakdown and legals the premium was £120 underwritten by Aviva.

Incidentally the bike I bought came from Husky Sport. It was their 2010 demonstrator; the bike featured in the TBM review mentioned elsewhere on this forum. I spoke with TBM about the bike. They were very helpful. Husky Sport were also great to deal with.

Cheers
Lucien
