• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

uneven sprocket wear? on 630sms?

bpowa

Husqvarna
B Class
well.. i have a bit over 2.5k miles.. there is excessive wear on the outter side of the rear sprocket. however behind the rear hub or inner side. there are no real wear.

the rear wheel is aligned accordingly to the alignment mark on the swingarm..

anyone else has this issue with the sms?

Those marks rarely work for true alignment on any bike.. measure or learn to align by eye. Of course, look for other things, blocks not bottomed out on adjusters before snugging axle, interference from sliders etc...

I measure the wheel lip to swingarm distance and make them equal left/right to get a more accurate alignment. Don't trust the index marks, they are for reference only and getting it "close"

I eyed balled it.. rear tire looks pretty even.. Im also hearing some shing ching when I shift randomly..

Hard to beleive 2k miles and its already starting.. IDK.. maybe this is a good bike for trail, touring, and enduro..

Riding supermoto style is pretty tough on a bike.. hopefully this bike will hold up.. or if it will go; blow up before the warranty ends.

Defenetly rear tire axle adjustment...

Yeah, something's out of kilter. looks like your right side needs to come back or the left needs to go forward, or both. Also make sure the chain isn't too tight. If you're one of those guys that's used to stiff jap bikes, and you're OCD about chain tightening, then it's probably way too tight.

Alignment and possibly chain tension are the problem for sure. Huskys like their chains pretty sloppy loose, especially coming from sportbikes.

Could be something else, but the bike is almost new so this theory is not posibile...front spocket is not simetrical. If someone without right knowledge would turn it wrong, spockets would not be parallel...

well i did notice this wear 1k miles after i installed the 14t front sprocket.. what can i do about it? i just took the old one out put the new one in with a snap ring over it.

any advice?

THE CS sprocket goes a certain side/face in.. Did you install it correctly.???. There's def something goin on... I personally don't like the side to side measurement for rear wheel alignment.. If you cant get it up in the air and do it by eye, there's better measurements to go by IMHO....

Your rear sprocket doesn't look all that different than my OEM sprocket.

The way I keep my rear wheel aligned is using this ruler with a laser beam in it.
I hold the laser against the bottom of the rear brake rotor and it lines up with a mark I made on my skid plate.

When tightening the axle, I throw a rag on the lower run of the chain and rotate the rear wheel
backwards until all the slack is taken up between the axle blocks and the damnable adjustment bolts.

u can only mount the sprocket one way in order to get the snap ring to lock in place.. so im aure its installwd correct

I disagree. My bike is just on table...you almost convinced me, so i duble checked it. Front spocket COULD be tourned wrong and still get a snap-ring back on. If you would turn it wrong they would be un paralel for cca 5mm. That might be solution for your problems.

i used a renthal sprocket.. there is no way i can put the snap ring on if its fliped the other direction.. are u using oem or aftermarket?

Ran in to this on both our TE 630's. Both bikes had a link that was missing an o-ring. One bike it was the master link so that was an easy fix. The other one was on a solid link, so I replaced the whole drive train. Check the o-rings if you ever get funny wear.

So what is the consensus for sprocket replacement in terms of brand? The Renthal Twin Ring looks interesting, but lots of options out there.

I replaced both sprockets and my chain with a setup from Supersprox. So far, it's going well.

While I was at it, I also replaced the chain slider and chain guide:
