    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Well I finally got my Husky running after a lot of work and new parts. I grew up riding some small dirt bikes and I have a triumph street bike at the moment, but this bike is in a whole nother world. I cracked the throttle just a bit and it was like I got shot out of a cannon. It probably wasnt the best idea to test ride it down my street a few times, the neighbors were not too happy with me......this thing is LOUD.

Alright on to my questions....I mixed my gas up with a 20:1 ratio I figured it would be better to oily than not oily enough.........whats your guys ideas on that?

Octane booster.......anyone use it/recommend it? The engine has pretty high compresion (12.3:1) so I would think it needs a good rating not to ping.
 
you guys go it 9mix it) your way, but just remember 2 stroke theory, more oil stands for leaner (fuel/air) mixture. Jet accordingly.
 
First which Husky do you have?
The factory lists 25:1 or 4% gas/oil mix, for all my two stroke bikes anyway 72-84. My 75 250CR get bean oil at 25:1 with 50/50 pump-race fuel, the rest of the heard gets 32:1 or 40:1 (depending on which oil I have at that time) and 50/50 pump-race fuel.

I just set it up per the manual, I set the mixture screw a turn and half from the bottom. I check the spark plug but I didnt run it long enough to get anything on it.

Ok so I definitly have to reduce the oil.

Tommie, why do you run the bean oil compared to the others, and where do you get the race fuel from?
 
My 75 is strickly a race bike and is ridden very hard, no trail riding, and has only had castor oil in the premix her entire life. The guy I got her from back in 78 said to use bean oil because it protected the engine better at high revs. so that's all I have used in this bike. When the leaded gas went away and the 66 station quit selling race fuel at the pump we started mixing race fuel and pump gas to keep the octane up around 94 or so. I think that Husky said to run 94 octane min. in the owners manual. Now I mix pump gas (89 octane) with VP U4.2 which is 102 octane. I get my VP race fuel from a local race car builder, they sell it by the gal. from 55 gal. drums. If you have a local drag strip i'm sure someone can tell you who sells race fuel in your area. Now listen to what Robert said and properly jet your bike, no matter what brand of oil or what fuel/oil ratio you use.
