• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Uptite exhaust for SM610

Bought the 610 Power Up kit from George. Installed the slip-on only and took it out for a ride. Several impressions. First, although the canister is a straight-shot through, it really isn't louder than the stock at idle and even WOT, in my opinion. That's good. Second, the bike is quite a bit more peppy. This is more like what I was expecting the bike to be when I first bought it. It's impressive. First and second gear no longer feel like they have the timing is retarded. Mind you, I haven't removed the O2 sensor and installed the resistor yet (still stock map). I wondering (hoping) if there will be another significant gain in power when I do that.

I'm impressed to say the least. With most street bikes a canister change only makes the bike louder without any significant power gain. With the 610 it's the reciprocal. Sweet.

Glad you like it. I love the way it woke up the bike. The rear stock Dumlope was toast in 1400 miles  Hope the Battleaxes are better.

Update

Just finished installing the resistor/removing the O2 sensor. Took it out for a test ride and the difference is impressive. It's a different bike. Really likes to rev. No more backfiring on decel. More power.

My idle has moved up from 1500 to 1900/2000. Did anyone else experience this? Will reset it to 1500 via the idle screw (George recommended this). Since my closest dealer is >100 miles away, I'll have to wait to re-zero the TPS with iBeat.

The front end of the bike gets "light" over 75mph and wobbles. Would a steering damper help?

That screw sets the idle speed, it adds or subtracts air. It does not affect the closed position like on a carb bike - the throttle position when closed does not change when that screw is adjusted, there is no need to change the TPS setting.

Mine will hit 95 with zero head wobble, check your front end completely before adding the damper.

Exactly. Mine has seen the high side of 100 many times with little or no head shake. Dampers have a place and if you want one Motosportz makes an excellent unit for the 610 but don't use it to cover up a problem.
Check that the steering head bearings are good and adjusted properly, check for flat spots on the tires and have them balanced, make sure the rims are true, check axle bearings, tire pressure, rear sag and make sure the sliders on the front forks don't have excessive play. Probably a couple of things that I missed but that should be a good start.
