• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

VCMC AMA D37 Enduro (Qualifier rules-FIM style)

Dates are Sept. 17, 18th. 17th is the family enduro and main race on 18th. The terrain looks just like Tecate and our own backyard, secret trails at McCain, cut in by LR...Full LR training sessions will be in effect up to race week!!! This is going to be a great race!!! D-37 enduro series is really ramping up and hopefully they can put together that Western Enduro Series there talking about....

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer....Mitch

I have ridden some of the singletrack at the Ranch at Anza. So far, they don't have the same amount of rocks as there is at McCain, but still some nice trails ups there.

PS take your time man!!! we will get you "down" here for some cool trail rides (with some real Husky heroes) when you are ready to rail!
Note about video 1st part me following French(Paris) guy on CRF250X, second part me following Italian(Abano Terme) guy on KTM400EXC.

nice vids, man i can say with confidence that i would find myself offcourse if not following someone through that. the 2nd vid looks like soem cool stuff, soft sand trails rite? fun stuff but saps your energy fast.

Thanks big bro! I am very much looking forward to gettin' in on some conga line railin' action with the Crew. Can't wait. mreep!

I think I saw a GP decal on the front fender in the Ryno vid!

Thanks for CHEC-ing in RideCHEC! Cant wait for this (local)enduro! Trying to fire up the SoCal Husky inmates.

At The Ranch in Anza in Sept (dont know date yet). they are laying out the course now. As of this moment I am in. It appears to be Tecate twisty and tight, I love that! Ajax is in too.

Hey Robert are you ready for some RACING I already signed up and got 2a I will have to be on my game since there will be about 300 riders behind me
I will be on my new WR/CR 300 unless it rains then with the ground wet the CR 125 might be the better pick

This weeken is the Gran Prix in Anza i will race Sat
Then there is WORC 2 weeks later
Then it is time to start working on the 100s National scouting time every weeken from late Sept to our race date late Oct
Then there is So Cal National Oct 9th
Then there is our 100s National 4 loops 100 miles
Lots of races comming up time to get those Husky ready OR if you do not want to race come help make the 100s National the best

John, Wow 2A!! very good pick, we got minute 1 at the Tecate enduro that was so unbelievable, you are basically breaking trail (although its little burned in anyway) and its not all hacked out.
I am signed 50+ B= Mag Hwt 4 stroke, waiting for my row number assignment, been riding every weekend (and even once with LR) and sticking to curvy sandy/marbles/rocky single track as much as possible, the bike is working tractor great (LTR set up) only I put a little more reb damp front to keep the nose planted with less front trail brake and me sitting back on the seat. All else is good and I will have new Pirelli scorp FIM rubber on for the race. skinny front, balloon rear! Depending on my schedule I would like to challenge your 100s Nat H&H again and finish once again (for all of you that think dez races are not trials technical I dare you to do this one)!! I could never drive all the way up and chase and/or spectate, I need to participate or not show up.
2 morrow its up to Anza (same location as the enduro) for the Marty Tripes Vintage day, I will MX the 97 decade class RM125, but probably have either my TXC or the old 99 TE for cruising around the site (gotta represent our crew, Husky!!)
I think that this Anza enduro will be alot like the Tecate Enduro, same altitude same terrain ( only less rocks from what Ive seen and ridden up there). I am really looking forward to this one!(its my style....slow!! and curvy)

See you there As for the 100s National if you can not race it then if you want to you can scout and mark with me We will get in lots of riding and you will see parts of Luceren you never have seen before .
I have been going there since late 70 and still find places my tires have never been over before

Okay, help me out here. Original post was for a CHECpoint enduro at the 'RANCH' in Cuhuilla. Then there's a post for 'Ventura', must be a different event? But same format? I'm confused.

The Ranch event poster shows a track, is part of the enduro on trails and part on the track like a GP? The youtube footage is of single track but it seems like a race. Who or what is 'LR' training sessions? Confused again.

From my days way back an enduro was a timed event, you need to be 'on time', so do they set the timed sections for a fast pace so it's like a race? I'm not clear how that works now, it's been a lot of years and I've never been to one of these events down there in CA.

I assume an enduro doesn't require a plated bike then. Are there the same age and skill classes as a D37 GP series? That I'm familiar with, been to those. So, what's the difference between an enduro and a Grand Prix race?

Thanks!!

EDIT: I did the Los Ancianos Tecate Race down in Mexico about 8 years ago. There was mention of Tecate, is that the same or a different event? Do they still go to Hacienda Veronica? Do you need a passport to get in and out of Tecate now?

The Rawhide Rodeo Anza qualifier enduro at "The Ranch" (former RynoLand) is part of the RideChec enduro series it is being put on/hosted by the VCMC (Ventura County Moto club) it is an AMA D37 event

I dont know the course layout only the VCMC crew does, it is an enduro with timed sections, alot like FIM type events, see the ridechec website for qualifier rules. LR is an old(er) (still fast) guy named Larry (that drives trucks and rides bikes) some of you may know of or have heard of him.We are fortunate enough to ride with(behind) him from time to time, its great for training.

yes you do need to be on time or early see ridechec website for event rules. In specials you go in and go as fast as you can there is no early or late just your section time, faster is better.

correct no plate needed, I'm more familiar with AMA classes (I am now 50B) in the D37 set up I'm Mag hwt 4stroke intermediate. Enduro= timed in and out of special test sections(as fast as you can go) with transfers (just be on time or lose your test start time), so you need to keep up a good pace all day, thats how they wear you down.GP(XC/HS race)= start then go as fast as you can go until the checkers fly, both are closed course races (hopefully)

Tecate was mentioned as a comparison to the terrain and the altitude (3900, Ive ridden enduros/HS/XC in both locations, The Ranch has less rocks(more sandy loose stuff) than the Santa Veronica/Tecate stuff, but all else is pretty much the same.

for location reference "The Ranch" property is a couple miles down the road from the Cahuilla Creek MX facility

Hope all that helps and hope my answers are all correct, R

different subject---Ajax I just committed to do the Tecate GP on 22OCT( its a new event that runs through the town than out into the country). So no 100s MC nat.
That said I would like to come up and break some H&H trail with you to help you with the Nat layout (for fun), that way I can still test myself against the L3 stuff with no pressure!

It is a Enduro at the Ranch use to be called Ryno Land .BUT it is a Enduro set up as a qualifer
which is like a Enduro but you do not need to keep time .4 riders per min but you race between checks and then start when it is your min you will never be early .that is about the easy way to explain .It is run by a Dist 37 club VCMC which has done many of these events at Gorman
Classes are like the gran prix classes .The Ranch has a few motocross tracks there but we will not be useing them this should be all single track .The area and the parts of the track i have ridden in the past is as close to Tecate in terrian that you can get with out leaving the USA The track is about 4,000 feet and high temp should be low 90
