  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Want to Purchase a Steering Damper

Hey everyone,
I need some advice finding a sub mount steering damper for my 2007 TE250. I really like the Motosportz dampers but have been told that top mount type are all that will work for my year/model. Also the top mount type will not work with the Highway Dirtbike bark busters I want. So...

What sub mounted damper have you used on your your 06-07 TE? Do you like it, worth the expense?

Thanks

Sneeker; I have this set up on my 07 TE 250. It was frustrating a little. Scotts damper, with a sub(under the bars) mount. BRP makes a sub mount for the scotts damper as well. There were some issues with clearance, which we had to take care of. Here is the thread on that issue!

I hope this helps!

I think there's an under-bar Motosportz damper for you're bike. http://www.motosportz.com/HVA-SS/HVA-SS-Home.htm#Control I've used Motosportz dampers on all my Huskys with great results. Simple installation. Simple operation. On-the-fly adjustment. Excellent quality. And they're made in the USA by a small business that cares about its customers. I bought a Scotts for an '08 KTM 250 XCF-W, it was a good product, but the multiple adjustments are overkill for such a simplistic device. The Motosportz fits my personal KISS philosophy... Keep It Simple Supid ... and it works every bit as well as my over-complicated Scotts damper did.

Yes, I agree, and Motosportz woulds be my 1st choice. However, I emailed and phoned Kelly at Motosportz last week, he told me that they do not carry under-bar dampers for my year, although their website seems to say otherwise.

Scotts are over priced for a not perfect fit. Te250Girl thanks for the link, very helpful.

Any other options?

GPR??? Not sure if they have what you want for your 2007, but it's worth a shot! I have one on my 08 TE250 and love it.

I have a GPR on my XR650r and love it, however they don't have an under-bar mount for 2006-07 TE Huskys.
I looked into WER and have heard good things but I don't like how it mounts.

I could go top mount, but this would alter my plan for everything that attaches to the bar clamp area. If I'm going to drop the coin to on this set up I might as well buy what I want instead of settling for less.

So far it seems that Scotts is the only under-bar mount damper that will work on a 2006-07 TE...with modification.

Anyone else used another brand on this model/year?

I have a GPR underbar mount on my 07 TE510. I took it off and attempted to mount it on my new 11 TE 310 and it did not work so I bought a new one for the 310. I may put it back on the 510 before I sell the bike or may consider selling the stabilizer and mount separate. Interested? Not sure if it'll fit the 250.

I installed a Scotts damper useing a BRP sub mount. I also used BRP shims so I could keep my stock 7/8 bars. The sub. mount raises the bars an inch or so. I needed to trim the triple clamps to clear the post just a little,I used a mill. On my stabilizer I was able to get full lock to lock without the stab. binding up. Everything works as it should and I love the stabilizer. I use the newer Enduro Engineering full hand guards and they fit fine. Hope this info helps. Tom.... My bike is also a 2007 TE 250
