• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well it's not the cam chain

1999 TE 610 kickstart model Just thought I'd post after a long night we'll come to find out that the noise coming from motor was the water pump impeller the nut came off and chewed up the impeller and a lil of the housing that be said gonna check with Moto exotica on impeller and gasket any one have any other suggestion was thinking of checking piston and so forth figure I'll be down for a min till parts arrive anybody ever put a bigger piston in there bike?? And how did it work thinking about going this route now that I'm starting to get deeper into it

There are bigger pistons available but it is probably not worth it. I believe you would have to bore and replate you cylinder since I never big bore cylinders for the 610.

George at Uptite has 100 mm JE piston kits available that should bump up displacement to 601cc. My old piston and cylinder were toast, so I figured that since I needed to re-plate my cylinder anyways I may as well go with the 100 mm piston kit. I'm still waiting to get my cylinder back, so I can't comment on performance yet, but I'm not expecting to see any major gains from it. I don't think it would be worth going with an oversize piston based on performance alone as it's a lot of $$$ for not much performance gain. If you're doing a full engine rebuild because parts are worn, then it would make more sense.

Please don't encourage him. His bike is virtually brand new and does not need the motor opened up for anything. Believe me. Babalu is a buddy of mine and he just can't leave well enough alone. Lol
