  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

well, stuff it! i say.

it's february, it's been mid to high 30's celsius since october and the humidity is just so oppressive, 80% at 38 deg C today. It's been too hot to ride, but i miss it soo much so yesterday i said stuff it! i'm going for a ride. by the time i get my bike loaded onto the ute i'm a lather of sweat, i get out to the trails and before i get geared up i'm soaked again, but my trusty TE fires up first stab of the starter and idles away happily, my mates and i head off and it ran perfectly, didn't miss a beat all day, i must have lost 3 kg in sweat but i really enjoyed myself, even enjoyed cleaning the bike and my gear afterwards!
just thought i'd share.

paul.
p.s, i'm not rubbing it in about how great our summer is either, i think i'd rather a bit of winter right now.:busted:

About 4 deg C here in South Wales (UK) on the coast. Overcast with a threat of Snow/Sleet in the next few days...

I'll swap with you for a fortnight. HeHe

Here in New England it has been 30 degrees F or less for the last 2 months. So yes i will trade you some summer.

Now we know where the global warming went LOL. Here in VA it's been snow every week; over 3' now and the temps from teens to low thirtys. I don't know what that is in celsius but I will trade you.

I'll trade you some of that summer too. Woke up this morning and it was -17C outside. Not very good riding weather.

Agreed....we had 32" of snow in 5 days here and another 3-6" is expected tonight. Temps anywhere from teens to mid 30's (F) for the last week too! I just want to ride****************************************

I can't complain.:excuseme:

It's been nice here and we have had both rain and snow in the riding areas in the last couple of weeks, so they aren't too dusty right now.

Here in Wa state, it's been pretty mild, so I blew the dust off of the 510, fed it some fresh gas and fired her up. Going to get out for a real ride this weekend. We have a couple of Honda XR's and I took my daughter out to the woods today...felt good to be back in the saddle...all 100cc's of it! I do like the diversity of climate here at Cafe Husky.

Too Hot-----------Too Cold???? Whatever****************************************! If your healthy enough to ride, quit complaining. It could be worse! Take small rides down the driveway or something.

Yeah, just kidding! It's in the 20's [F] here & I went down the driveway & both wheels slipped out from under me on ice under slush:D I got my gear on & went about 15 miles farther in about 7" of snow. Fiqured if I'm gonna get hurt I may as well have some fun[which I did]

Yah, here in So. Cal. the weather has been awful. Just last weekend I had to ride in 70 to 75 degree weather after a good rain three days before creating a suspected layer of soft tacky dirt in the desert with some mud puddles. Riding in a pac (my kids) I found no dust to clog my lungs and air filter. The wind was calm at 5 mph. It was so painful I did it for two days, Saturday 57 miles and Monday another 50 + miles. So, here I am sitting in my room listening to the pitter patter of rain on the roof. Supposed to stop for Sunday were I have to go out again and ride that same condition, except the wind may be up to 15 mph. Man, it just sucks this time of the year. :busted:

i'm off again on monday with some guys from work, we all share the same SDO. the wet weather should make it good but if it doesn't i don't care. after being off it for 3 months with renos any opportunity will do, even if it is hot and muggy.

paul.
