• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What did you pay???

Thanks for the input. I was wondering what they finally got for that bike. Where are you in NC?

I ended up paying 6400 + tax title, etc.....in april 08 then it was stolen in SEP08...........I just got it back after 1 year about 2 weeks ago, saw it in an add on craigslist WITHOUT A TITLE, new it was my bike, long story short it is in my garage now, I posted this on thumper talk a week or so ago and did not post again here since a lot of people go to both sites, I felt like I would be reposting.........anywho, I am in aberdeen nc, if you do any weekend riding let me know and if is not to far away maybe we can meet up, never rode with another husky owner before.........................vin

Dangit, you are one lucky dude. How is the bike. Did those fools trash it? Did your insurance cover it when it was stolen? Were the guys that stole it from you caught? I think this is a good story for this thread. Pony up. Let's hear it.

Well I saw the add on craigslist for the bike advertising no title, turn signals, or liscense or lights. I saw this at work and basically jumped out of my chair and brought everyone over to my computer to take a look. The roboson county sheriff went down to the guys house with me after I called the "seller" and scheduled an appointment to see the bike. We got there before the "seller" and the bike was out in the front yard, I still had my spare key, the thieves took the other off my dresser, and I started the bike right up. Also VIN matched the title I still had. The "seller" told his story and the bike has changed hands three times. The last person that was mentioned to the detective had allready had some other "problems" with the law, so I thought they may be able to catch the guy that actually stole it, but it has been about 2 weeks now and have not heard back from anyone about being able to prosecute. Another part was the "seller" posted an add about a month earlier and no one bought it, so I feel really lucky that the bike was still there a, mind you this is a year after it was originally stolen. Insurance did not cover anything for me so I ate my purchase 5 months after getting it, now on my other bike I have specifically request theft, you know how much more that is per year..........$1........what a bunch of B.S if you ask me.

The bike has some road rash on the right side on the tank and number plate plastics, the handle bars are bent on that side, missing passenger pegs on right side, and peg is all mangled up. Also no lights except for headlight and needs a new rear tube. That is what i see so far as for physical damage.

I have not ridden it yet, I just got all the new stuff in today that I ordered for it. So as soon as the oil is changed and valves checked I will see how it performs. Also since I have had it in the garage for about 2 weeks now there are about 2 or 3 drips of oil under it, not sure if I should be really concearned about that, opinions? Also when I start it up, when revved to about 4k the red rev limit (i think) light comes on. I have red the computers on these models are finiky, does anyone think this is the case, or could something signifigant be wrong........well that is the story, thanks for any input and I look forward to get my bike up and running again...................vin

I just bought my zero mile left over 2008 SM 610 last Thursday from MotoXotica in California for $6,299 plus tax and license. Thanks Dan!
