• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What engine oil are you using?

The package arrived, will change oil and see how the shifting is next week.

Also wanted to say that this "full synthetic" (that is at least what is says on the label, but do understand the msds states differently) is $30/gallon with an MA2 rating. Amazon does have all kinds of oil available, including the diesel oils, but they are not that much cheaper ($20/gallon?)... and several oils they sell are much more expensive than what I paid.
If you live near an O'Reilly Auto Parts store they are currently running a special on Rotella 15w-40, I just bought 9 gallons at about $12.50 per gal.

Im running Spectro as well, I always ran Rotella in my quads. Im going to give it a try once Im out of Spectro.

Rotella T6 5w-40 full synthetic. I run it on everything but the Ural and have had nothing but good things to say about it.

Good news, local O'Reilly's actual has oil higher than 30W!

Yes they had that oil on sale for $19.99G, regular price is $28/G (these things vary by location)... and they also had the stuff that Kelly mentioned (Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15-40 Diesel Oil) and the regular price on that is $18/G.

In addition they also had Mobil 1 of reasonable weight (15W-50?).. They even had Lucas Motorcycle oil...so now I know where to find oil in Napa.

Since my interest is a long term product to use, I did not buy any other oil, because I want to see how the "Castrol 06412 Power RS Racing 10W-50 4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil" I got from Amazon works out, which was $30/G delivered. Though I just re-checked and it seems to have gone up to $32/G.

I run Motorex 10w-60, pretty solid results.
I used that in all my KTM's, and their 10w-60 Power Synt is factory recommend for the big block Guzzis. Great stuff. I have some on the shelf, will be happy to use it in the Terra.
At $18/liter, an oil change in my Stelvio NTX wasn't cheap - but an air/oil cooled motor with a hot running head needs the best, so I followed their recommendation
(Agip 10w-60 also recommended).

On the Terra I will buy a full synthetic in the recommended viscosity and change it based on the conditions it was ridden.
I have no brand loyalty - I've used every oil out there, and really have no preference.
I have bottles of Silkolene, Motul, Mobil 1 15w-50 full synth, Golden Spectro... on my shelf.
If I start with an ester based oil, I will stay with it though. Not sure why, but I'm sure a petroleum engineer will be happy to tell me if I need to or not :D

My XR628 was always in a dusty environment and got ridden hard - I used Castrol GTX and changed it often.
I'm of the school that you can go to Pep Boys and buy Manny, Moe, and Jack's oil if you change it as often as motorcycle people tend to.

I just picked up oil and filters for my first at home oil change on this bike.

Went with Motorex full synthetic in the weight specified in the manual.

Mobil 1 15W-50 4T Racing Oil @ $14/Litre. I use Mobil oil in all my vehicles, just a personal preference.

Last change I used Motul 10w40. It's much easier to click into neutral now than with Silkolene 10w40.
