• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What gear do you use?

Ahhhh I left out the riding shorts. I noticed that alot of people wear "padded crotch" shorts. I used too use bicycle shorts also. Butt the problem is the padding always bunched up & chafted that area. My son played little league football last year & the park required a girdle for the rear & hip pads.... That got me thinking, I bought an adult sized Under Armor girdle without the pads. The material it's made of is slippery & works much better for me than the riding shorts.... So no more butt powder, vasoline or creams.

Offroad:

Brain Bucket-Fox V2
Goggles-Smith Intake Fuel dual panes w/yellow lenses
Spine, Chest, Shoulder, Elbow, Forearm + kidney belt-Rockgardn Flakjacket
Jersey-Several
Jacket-Klim Gortex pullover....Awesome and dry.
Pants-Klim Dakar
Knees-Alpinstars
Boots-Sidi Crossfire. Only real weakness is lack of motion control for over extending toe up or toe down. Also makes them very easy to walk in.

Am finding myself migrating to more and more Klim gear. I love their stuff! A bit pricey but well made and functional.

Street:

Bucket-Shoei RF1000 with Pinlock visor
Jacket-Joe Rocket Alter Ego
Undershirt-Tourmaster heated for cold
Pants-Joe Rocket Alter Ego
Boots-Triumph
Gloves-Triumph mesh for warm wx, Gerbings heated for cold

All of them on the street!

Sorry ladies, those things have always been a part of my endurance motorcycle kit that goes with me everywhere. Until I found the girdle that is.... I found out a long time ago that a little something goes a long way when preventing "Monkey B#*@"

LOL...She (Dirtdame) said Too Much Info, that's why I quoted her... No offense, nor was I calling you a Lady, but the Under Armor football girdle is better for me than the padded crotch riding pants. I do know some tough guys that go commando, is that TMI???

BARF! another visual i did not need...lol

i actually use the EVS padded shorts as i hate losing my hip pads and all that plus they have more padding in the femur area than normal pants provide as my spots are rocky and thick with a lot of tight punji-stick sections. and i gotta protect my rt hip/thigh as much as possible, its more jello than muslce now. them EVS shorts have saved my bacon more than once. i highly recomend them, they are super robust, made for MX and have a very thin soft pad in the seat. been using them for years now, same pair. and i agree the cycling shorts pad are too thick.

You should look into the football girdles....I promise this is the last time I'll pump them up. But you can get reinforced hip, thigh & tail bone pads for the girdles that don't restrict movement, they are lightweight & removable/easy to wash, just a thought.
