• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What is on your TR650 farckle wishlist??

It was mentioned long ago, with not a lot of correspondence about it. A chain tensioner or chain guide. Not sure if the tensioner would be a good idea for high speed street use. But either of these two would allow to run the chain looser, unlike how freakin' tight they come from the factory.

Still in concept but I made one for the Dakar that works perfectly. Gave it a good thrashing the other day without issue.

The slider is an off the shelf item from Husqvarna/KTM
part No: 8000H7668

I am trying to source the sliders from the states as the price in Aus is horrendous Aus$120.00.
I have found then in the states for US$30.00
I'm not sure how they can justify 3x higher. Its fecking criminal.
It's even half the price in Russia FFS

So it may come down to just selling the bracket and customers source their own slider.

If anyone is interested please give me a show of hands. The development cost of this one is up there and I would need some commitment before being able to order.
Not sure on the price as yet. The more I order, the cheaper it gets.
Not cast in stone, but probably around $100 for the bracket

To do list:

Brake pedal

Tail tidy

Raising the rear suspension for the guys that have done the YZ front end
(I have 1 axle kit available BTW)

Instrument cluster protection

Rear Rack/ grab handles

Does anyone else feel the footpegs are too far forward for standing and riding?
I took this bike for a ride and feel it has the same issue as the BMW 650 singles. The pegs are too far forward and standing riding stance is uncomfortable.

So I had some brackets made up and got the bike back on Monday for the second round of measurements

The difference in rigidity is huge

Can you make something like this for the rear fender? That's the one that folks have breakage issues with. Also let us know if we can buy any of your stuff, it looks great!

one please

Chain guard for me please.

Do you have anything going with the brake pedal?

Just done the modifications on the chain guide. Going to order another prototype today.
Still having difficulty getting the sliders here in Aus. Seems to be no issue in USA/Europe.

Following priority list:
Brake Pedal
Rear raising Knuckle
Rear disc protector - shark fin
Tail tidy - OEM tail support
Footpeg relocation - viability investigation at least
Rear rack

Looking forward to the brake pedal and either a tail tidy or rear support. Glad to see someone is making quality farkles for the folks with this bike. Have had my TR for 3 years now and loved every minute--thought I was completely farkled until I found this thread:cheers:

Sorry for sounding dumb but what are the benefits of a chain guard and how will it affect/improve the TR?

Its a guide.

Keeps the chain going onto the sprocket in rough conditions. Sticks, stones, mud, etc.
Not needed for on road riding

Would it improve the rear end chatter when going over rough corrugations on dirt/gravel, especially uphill curves etc.? Or is this a rear shock issue?

Maybe a good idea to make something that would allow a better rear shock to be used. Something along the lines of your axle kit. Of course this is just a suggestion. I cant afford your axle kit yet but i like that the option is there if i ever find the funds.

I am looking to make a new rear link "Knuckle". This could be adapted to take a different shock.
But not really a viable option unless there is consensus on which shock to use

Is there a shock that comes as a "base model" and optional upgrades to have all the bells and whistles? Id say thats the only real option seeing everyones huge variety of budgets.

Just a quick test fit. Still welding and polishing to be done

The plastic guides still haven't arrived but the brackets will be ready latest Tuesday.

I had 5 made as a prototype run. 2 are spoken for so I have 3 available.
I should have the pricing sorted by the end of the day. I am waiting on the cost of welding.
Anyone interested please drop me a line.

I am stoked with the fit and look. For a change things just worked out!!
