  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What is this used for? TC510

I have no idea what this is for. It came with the bike. TC510

Battery holder. Sit's into forming on the rear fender under the seat. At least it does on my SM. Assuming TC the same.

My '08 TE 510 didn't come with the battery tray, just the rubber strap to hold it down in to the fender. Tray came with the '09 models, but no strap. My seat and battery welded themselves together and left a hole atop the battery . Husky replaced the battery and sent me the battery tray to the dealer. It has helped snug the battery up some more. Still not 100%, but better. I have a chunk of old inner tube between the seat and battey so it doesn't happen again.

My battery has welded itself to the seat before and it is a pain in the butt to get it off. I don't understand why they don't have a strap to hold down the battery on the 09. It boggles me mind.

Same here guys, I used some foam pipe lagging on the cross member but the battery was still getting crushed. I opted for a lightweight battery rather than have a leaking failure.. Got mine from Motydesign, shipped to the UK for half the cost of a race battery here. I've not used it yet but hope the attached pics help if you go this route

Remove OE battery and tray - you know what that is!
P1030025.JPG
Fitted some car panel trim over the edge of fender..

Offer up battery, this orientation allows the quick release connector to be used, orientation not an issue with lithium batts..

Connect OE leads to the new battery and heatshrink in place over..

Used one of the fuse holder holes for long cable tie and drilled another hole for the donor fuse. Fitted the supplied neoprene backing to the rear of the battery. Tied into place, not overly tight as it grips the fender and really doesn't move. All fitted and ready to go!

So I'm guessing that you got the 4 cell battery? I like that it is small and out of the way and the quick disconnect seems like it is a handy feature. Nice setup.

Hi, thanks. Yes, got the 4 cell. I did email Brian at Moty and he seemed to think the 4 cell would be fine. A few other guys are running the same with over a years use so should be ok. Also fitting the K&N and the battery frees up some space for a tool roll or whatever.
