  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ok guys i've been searching on here and googling but im not finding it. It seems right now that maybe a 2008 + txc is out of the question due to lack of funds. so what was available before 2008 that did the job of a txc??? I'm thinking 2006 to 2007. or should i bite the bullet and find a 2008+??? any help is appreciated. Julian

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I was thinking. Time to sell the KTM I guess. Were TE's still the Enduro in 06 and 07?

If you mean with a license plate, yes.

The txc most closely resembles a TE without the the things needed for road use. Same transmission/engine for instance (in general).

The TE was for off road competition, not sure exactly which year it became street legal, maybe '06. So if your interested in a 06-07 competition bike the TE is more than capable.

All of these models came with a 50 state license plate:
2006/7 - TE/SMs were extremely similar with carbs
2008/9 - TE/SMs were similar with efi

I will stop typing because you seem interested in 2009 & older, and after that it gets a little complicated.

08 model TXC were ~TCs with a woods suspension(dual chamber 50mm Marzocchis) && estart (+10lbs weight), 6-speed tranny ... TEs were much milder engines in 08, different suspensions, EFI ... TE engines have gotten stronger engines thru the years... TXC have gone EFI also after 08 I think ...

I'd say don't give up on the 08 model ... They are a very good bike ... Motor is powerful, CARB easy to tune, suspension is tunable, .... mine has ~260 hrs and still going strong ... I was racing with a 04 CR250R last week ... The rider was faster than me but the Husky was with him ....

so I saw a nice 2009 tc450 in the classifieds section. for the price of 3k obo it is hard to pass up. could a tc be ok in the woods? I imagine it doesnt have estart though. it seems you kind of cant go wrong with buying a husky.

Not sure how TY had the suspension but I'm sure he'll know and help you with it ....Power wise....I'd guess that bike is gonna be a bad a$$ to say the least :) ... UR n NM? .... I'd guess the bike would work in the desert also ....

my heart tells me to hold off for the txc. i've always been bad about buying the wrong bike for my needs. impulse is a son of a gun. but you are right, that bike looks to be insane. but the owner is even selling it to get a 250.
