• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What's your stupid mistake!?

Fettling the bike this afternoon, I thought I had an issue with the fuel-pump or maybe a wiring problem. Turned the ignition on and didn't hear the tell-tale buzz of the fuel pump priming itself.

I'd just washed the bike so took the connector off and gave it a liberal spray with water dispersant, still nothing.
Checked all the fuses, no problem there.
Took the tank off the spare bike and tried that on the bike too (to save me removing the pump itself)
Still nothing.

Okay, so it's not the pump. Must be somewhere in the wiring...

Um, no.. it helps if you check the kill-switch first!

What's your most kick-self mistake??

Getting off my ZX-10R without putting down the kickstand.
My dad was giving me the spiel about how everyone drops their bikes and I should get frame sliders. I had just bought a brand new 03 cbr600rr. We went to top off our bikes at the gas station and he dropped his new gsxr1000 lol

Dad always said, I'll never buy you a motor bike so you can go kill yourself....silly me took another 25 years to realise that I could just go buy my own. ! sheesh,

Paid $180 for a shop to fix my DRZ, when all I had to do was cut out a connector that melted and splice 2 wires together.

Next time a bike dies on me, I'll be a LOT more thorough in my checking things over.

I had sliders. Damage was so minimal that I didn't bother replacing parts. Small scuff on the mirror and belly pan. They were both matte black, so it was barely visible. But boy I was mad when it happened.

When I bought my little crf100 play bike at the now defunct Fairfield cycle, the sales guy threw me the bait to put 2 tanks of gas through the bike and bring it back and they will go over it to make sure everything was ok. Payed my bill of $330 like a dumb *ss. Guy tells me everything is perfect. Get home and look over everything. All the bolts where perfect, not a mark on them from any kind of wrench, socket, what nots. The only thing I could tell they did was change my oil and oil my chain with motor oil and man did they oil it( was dripping everywhere ). I called them up demanding to know why I was charged $330 for a oil change and oiling my chain. The guy told me that was for labor also. Mind you, this was a brand new Honda crf100, just a crf100. Last time I ever gave that place my business. Then, a couple months later, they dropped the price of the bikes by $1000. I was so pissed!

Started a hare scramble with my fuel turned off...

Had an Aprilia Mille with GP shift on it. Took a friend's Buel XB9 out and was doing a wheelie and tried to shift from 2nd to 3rd..yeah..It went down to 1st and I nearly high sided the bike...

Tried to drift on the throttle into a gravel parking lot and forgot my now ex-wife was on the back. I saw feet pass my head, slammed the brakes, on, got a helmet bonk, and then a swift punch in the kidney...
