• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where is the 650 forum? (TR650 in the house...)

Researching a 15T front sprocket i find the manual says 520 chain (thought i read 530) so there are several 15T on eBay in both 520 and 530 sizes. Will do some more research and see.

Excellent 13, 14, 15, 16 tooth here and also sprocket and chain sets.

Hot Rod Welding hopefully will be making an X Tank of some size for the Husky if there is enough interest.

Fitted one of these to the X Challenge and it worked great, gave 17 litres all up for over 400 klms.

Same. You might have been looking at the concept pics? Actually don't know why they did not use that set up instead of this one :excuseme: Cost? Maybe easy to change though?

So much different there...

- brake peddle
- chain guide
- bars
- bar mounts
- triple clamps
- Forks
- Fender
- wheels
- tires
- rear brake hose routing
- skid plate
- Cs cover
- calipers
- Disks
- sprocket
- pass footpegs
- rider footpegs
- seat

BTW we are starting to build parts for this bike today. The skid plate design we have is very cool and super strong and different approach to skid plate design and manufacturing. Got a bunch of stuff coming. Will start a thread in the motosportz forum soon.

Maybe that was the $10K build spec? :D

The strada got better wheels than its concept. I'm really interested in the brake lever though. I can see where it may be an issue. Seriously though, I need to figure out how to get this thing. I explained to my wife that it will save us money because of how much I will save in gas lol.

I am sure the concept just didn’t even address it and that’s why it looks so clean, but I wish they could have hid the electrical "stuff" on the right side on the engine in the production bikes.
Husky did do a LOT better than BMW with this bike since you can see the valve cover and that they made it red.
But it still looks more like an air compressor than a motorcycle engine to me with that stuff there.

Does it look feasible that a larger aftermarket tank could be put on? I know it will take quite a bit of sales to get to the point of manufacturing one, but just a thought. I didn't mind the aesthetics of this new bike but now do think more of it with an actual first hand report on it (not from any magazine). I've not liked the dirtier bikes aesthetically since Big Money Waste came into the picture, but this seems ok.

Either they hid the electronics REALY well or it is not a functioning bike. There are alot of electronics on the F bikes like mine that are not there on the concept. Usually the regulator (that piece on the side on the production bike) sits behind the motor on the F bikes but alot of us moved it to the side like the X bikes (and the TR) for better cooling. I don't see it behind the motor in the concept and dont's see the other bits of wire above the engine.

BTW Kelly, where is the oil tank on the new beast and what are the procedures for the oil change if you don't mind? Any dip stick or is it a sight glass? The tech schematics are fine since you probably have not changed the oil yet. Although at the rate you are putting miles on, maybe soon, eh? ha ha Good on ya.

Good eye there mattmoto

Thanks. Love the looks of this bike and the "upgrades" it has over the F bikes. I see one in my garage by the spring! Anyone need a Triumph S4 or a slightly used Dakar only ridden on sundays by an old man and never been down? :D

We will be building one some day semi soon.
Motors ports, can you check the front and rear wheel spacers to see what they are made of? The alloy ones were the fastest wear item on the BMWs and were replaced with steel versions aftermarket.

Do the foot peg mounts bolt on to the frame like the 610/630? If so then the off road Husky pegs can be fitted like the concwpt bike. And the brake pedal. Can an existing Husky over the peg pedal be fitted like the concept bike. That would be the easiest for sure. Oh, and the concept has a nice Husky looking shifter.

oil tank is now in the frame and it is all very cleanly laid out. You fill and check it with the frame dip stick. Drains out the bottom and there is also an EZ to get to drain for the "tank" (frame)

I was just looking at this last night. did not pull the wheels off yet to design the rotor guards but it looks steel to me. Will let you know soon when i pull the wheels and get to work on the rotor guards.

the aluminum brake pedal in the prototype pic look stock husky. Will play with stuff to see what works. Footpegs mount in typical fashion so anything should fit. They come with removable rubber inserts leaving real dirt looking pegs when removed, just like my 06 TE610 was.

I just returned from my machine shop, the skit plate is going to be very cool. We took a very different approach and the ends result is going to be a cool looking plate that is strong as a bridge. Kinda needs to be as there is a very bad placed main oil line right on the bottom center of the motor (worse place possible). freaks me out even doing simple little maneuvers like dropping off a curb etc. You hit that bolt good your buying an engine.

Thanks again Kelly! That sounds way better than the F. I like it.
