• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where the heck have I been?? I forgot how good a CR/WR 250 Really is****************************************

What have I been thinking!! This photo goes bak to 1993/94? When my bread and butter was Husky 250's! Also had a 260! Last 2 years rode a 150 love it!. Got a chance to pick up a crazy clean (looks like 15-20 HRS!)2001 Husky 250. Rode it and thought I did not like it told my wife I was gonna sell it! Tried it again, went home and said I was gonna sell my 150 and buy another 250! Yes it may have a few shortcomings, but man how did I forget how much I love these things!!! May race a 250 this year!! Outdated or not, I take back anything I said or thought about the WR/CR 250**************************************** Anyone need a tricked out 150?? Hey it was 94! I raced the bike in 93 then gutted er down. Wow colors sure were funny were they not!! If you havn't rode one of these things in awhile do yourself a favor and try one****************************************!!Forgive the riding gear colors but I must of had balls! I take that back! Must of got that Bieffe gear in the discount section!!LOL

250 2T were the standard for about ~30 yrs .... You don't reign at the top for that long by accident or luck .... They are the perfect size bike ... Both engine and frame ...

I did 75 miles of the gnar with a buddy with a 07 WR250 yesterday. I was on my very nicely setup GG with Ohlins suspension, Doma pipe etc. The WR engine is very good, the bike feels bigger than the GG and turns slower less accurate. When things open up the bigger longer feeling husky shines. As it gets tighter the GG gets better. The GG has better suspension (both were done by LTR). Both great bikes of slightly different flavors. Good bikes for sure.

Wow you guys are not kidding! As the 150 and 250 were on my trailer side by side I wondered wow! If that engine was in that frame Holy :censored: would that be a fun bike!! My fab buddy said it is possibe!! Whats a super low hour (guessing 20 hours) 250 frame with no engine worth?? If it was worth a $1,000 I think I would do it!!! Rest assured a nicely setup Gasser may feel smaller and turn better, but if I'm on the Husky I WILL do what it takes to be sure the Husky is in front!!

I owned a GasGas with LTR Ohlins front and back and I agree, but I'm tall and the Gasser felt like a mini bike after I got used to the Husky. I sold the GasGas to a 5'8" 145 kid who loves it. It was Les at LTR that recommended the Husky brand to me and I will always thank him for that.

I've been wanting to put my '00 WR250 in the '09 WR125 frame, as it would rock! I never could get comfortable on the '06 up 2 stroke body work. I rode my '02 WR125 until '09 because of this. I just rode an '07 WR167 and it confirmed my previous feeling. I still say if Husky could go through all it did to put the BMW G450X engine in a Husky.... It could have put the WR250 engine (right drive and all) in a new 125/250 X-Lite frame!:oldman:

I will say I like the looks of the new bodywork and in some ways I feel the 2000-2004 Husky 250 is almost to slim, but the depressing part of it is the increased seat height!!! I was at one point 5'7' I'm now 47 years old and I will bet you I'n at least a 1/4 inch shorter then I used to be!! Big factor in choosing a bike!! You are certainly right!! I would not think it would have been that hard to stick the right drive engine in the X light frame!! I don't even care the engine is slightly heavy or outdated. As it is bulletproof and healthly!! Throw the 6-speed back in why they are at it!!! I'm still thinking about doing it!!! I'm supposed to pick up a newer 250 Husky, but am leary, because of the body work and increased seat height!!

I am almost 6 foot and agree. I put a tall Seat Concepts seat on mine (highly recommended seats), Fastway lowboy pegs and taller Trailtech woods bend bars and the ergos really opened up.

I'm only 5'8" on a good day and ride a WR250. Yeah, it sort a feels tall, but I do OK with it. I don't think it feels as tall as my '10 TC250 or TE510 did, which should be closer to the 125.

I rode a new 2011 Gasgas 200 a few weeks back and it did not seem as compact as the 02 I had ridden before. I could probably make it work at 6 foot 1. It had less low end then my massaged 150 but I imagine sending the head and carb to RB Designs and switching the ignition out of rain mode would wake it up. But I hated the Zoke 45s and it was a lot heavier then my Husky. I would like to try a 2012 250 though. If Husky ever makes a 250 in the same frame as my 150 I will have to get one for sure. I used to think the WR250 handled decent but now when I hop one one after my 150 it just feels kind of tank like, but I guess every other bike does also.

The 08 frame was a game changer for me. Then the x-light next gen frame upped the program and now the 09 and 11 frames are a step ot two better. IMHO the best frame / handling going period. The WR250/300 should have got the new frame in 09 like the 125.

Totally agree! I remember riding the new '08 TXC250 at the first NE Husky Gathering in Sept '07 and thinking...... 125 in this frame would rock and Husky did it in '09. 250 2T in this frame would have been a great bridge to the next gen WR250.

Maybe I should buy that '12 Husaberg TE250 2 stroke and Husky will be sure to come out with a new WR250 in '13!
You could do that, blindfold yourself and tell yourself it was a great bike, but something tells me you would be right back on a Husky by the following year whether they had a WR250 or not****************************************!

Interesting on the 200 Gasser as I was just thinking again about jumping ship, but who knows??? For me, I MISS MY 45MM ZOKES  THEY WERE THE BEST FORK I HAVE EVER HAD at least in the woods****************************************

Darn that bike is way too clean**************************************** Bring it up to Akeley MN and either you ride it for the weekend or let me!!! What year is it???
