  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where To Buy Te 250 2010 Valve Shims

Burnman

Husqvarna
A Class
Hi everyone!!

I am searching for valve shims for my TE 250 2010. My clearance is good for now but I want to have some when they go out of spec. The only place I found is Motorsportz but It looks like they have been out of stock for a while.

Thanx

I was going to get the hot cam's kit from Motosportz- but they aren't selling anymore- sizes 2.10-2.35 of 9.48 diameter shims.

I found you can buy full kits, refill kits: Hot Cams or Pro X. BikeBandit, Motorcycle Superstore, Rocky Moutnain ATVMC.

pre xLite 250s and 08-10 450-510s: I found you can get SINGLE Shims from ROCKY MOUNTAIN ATV.MC for my bike- $1.50 per (9.48= Same as 09Honda450X)- this is what I plan to do: take measurements, if I need adjust I measure the current shim for each valve- (put bike back together or not based on needs/timing with rides) do math- order the correct shim-... swap shims, Double check, ride.

XLites- If DougL is right that the X-lite motors (09-11 250s and 11 310s) use the same as an 09Honda250X shim then the shim size for those are 7.48. (I couldn't verify/ don't own one)

Thanks was wondering if it is hard to check the valves as this is the first 4 stroke I have owned. My bike has just hit 1017 km.The nearest husky shop is 4 hour drive. So is there a u tube demo on how to do this.Any info would help.

That is for the older motors, prior to the xlite which you probably have..

I've no idea how helpful that video might be for the xlite motors.

I got my kit from a seller on Amazon.com but you can get them on rockymountainmc.com, etc. Just look for 7.48 shim kit. Pro X makes a set too. I'm not sure about the 150...might have to call a Honda dealer on that. After doing the run-to-the-dealer method, it is so much easier to fork over for the kit, especially when your bike starts the downward spiral and you're shimming every month. If you don't have a good torque wrench, get one of those too...the bolts on the cam covers are very sensitive and will strip the threads off if you look at them wrong.

Thanks I will be care-full.It scares the shivers out to even do this so, will call on a mate to give me tips when doing it.
