• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Where's the Nuda?

Reading your words, being of sound mind and body, my thoughts are: you gotta be kidding...

I agree - they were his words not mine. Clearly a 600 single making 50ish hp can't be in the same league as a 100hp twin weighing only 30kgs more. I was very surprised by his comments and would have thought he'd be talking the Nuda up for all it's worth.

Just remember though, he has all manner of performance bikes at his fingertips and I suspect he was comparing the Nuda to them. For example the Ducati 848 Streetfighter, weighs just 169kgs dry & pumps out 132hp, and is reportadly a complete blast, or even the much smaller Triumph Street Triple. When you compare the Nuda to these, as he was likely doing, perhaps it is more show than go.

Personally i believe Husky is an exceptional off road brand, which BMW acquired to bolster an area they were weak in. Having done so I'd much prefer they pumped their R&D $ into keeping it at the forefront there, rather than introducing these soft road bikes (GS engined Nuda & 650s soon to arrive). I still can't believe they letting such an iconic bike like the 610/630 range go.

Just want to send a BIG thanks to Ryan Sanders for getting back to me regardingy Nuda query at Husky NA.
Very personable reply, and I think represents Husky/ BMW well. Now if Corporate office would see the desire we have in NA, perhaps they will comply.

Spoke to my dealer.. he's prepared to buy a couple and he said interest was high from his clients.. Planepower.. what was the reply/question?

Heres pretty much the reply;
Unfortunately there is no news at all on the Nuda coming to North America. I am sure that if and when they make the decision to bring them over, Cafe husky will be one of the first places to know about it.

I see this bike in the same class as the Ducati Hypermotard, which is a good seller in the US.
Similar to the Hyper but so are the KTM SM-R and the Ape Dorsaduro. Neither of them a good sellers in the USA but the Hyper is popular and it sells. The Ape has a horrible dealer network and parts supply in the USA and as we know KTM is more dirt bike oriented in this country. Too bad for us. I was fortunate to ride a KTM SM-R at a KTM trackday at Mid-Ohio last year. There were also RC8s to ride but the SM-R was my bike of choice all day. I really wanted to buy one those but then KTM pulls the plug and no more SM-R for us. That's why the Nuda could be a good choice for us seeking something to bring out our inner hooligan. Ship it!
