• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Which tires do you guys like for the street on your SM 610's?

Considering new tires for my SM610. I'm wondering which tires I should get. I use my bike primarily for commuting to work. The commute is mostly freeway. Which tires do you recommend?

Also wondering if it's a good idea to go with a 160 instead of a 150 on the rear?

I have Conti SM tires, but for communting I'd just get regular street tires for longer life.

BTW, I hope your commute is short and you have a modified seat. Highway on a SM bike is not too much fun.

I too have the Conti’s
And I too think there might be something better mileage wise, for commuting

We'll , I got 700 miles out of the dunloup that can with it , next got about 2500 out of a set of conti motions , $ 154 for the set / with a 160. Not a bad tire , I think they are great for commuting , good on rain and a flatter profile . But I'm on Pilot Powers now , with a 160 in rear , just out them on won't have them scuffed I'm till September or October .

Thanks for the information everyone. Glad you all are here to help me along the way. Hopefully, I'm returning the favor in some way as well.

@RLittle: My work commute is roughly 70 miles round trip. Backroads are cool, but I prefer the freeway b/c they're quicker, less technical and safer by comparison. Also, I'm going to get SeatConcepts seat, but not b/c of my commute... stock SM seats are only good for standing ;o)

I failed to ask earlier, but what is the typical life of a set of tires? I bought my bike new with zero miles. I now have 1300 miles. Looks like I've used about half the tread or less. What's your experience/knowledge of tire and tread life? Hoping I can get at least another 1300 miles or more out of the stock tires.

I am going to try Dunlop Roadsmart next. I commute 7000 miles and year and would let to get more than 3000 miles.
