  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Who has the 2011 TE 449 or TE 511? Your opinons compared to 09/10?

Sandgroper

Husqvarna
AA Class
Im considering buying either model, not sure which one as I dont know much about the bmw engine.
I loved my 09 510 TXC in terms of power/torqe and reliability. I still have my trusty 09 WR 300 but would like to ad a thumper to the garage for those longer rides.

Any opinions on reliability, handling, that new engine and suspension setup appreciated.
Most magazines seem to be running similar stories saying the bike is uneventful and boring to ride.
Surely this couldnt be true....

i have the 449 apart from no hour meter wich i find disapointing, the bike feels good it isnt yet broke in completely but the power feels super smoothe and gearing is bang on straight out of the box as it where, the suspension feels good allthough still a little stiff due to being new i will really be able to tell you more after say 20hours (if i could measure the hours that is) when everything has bedded in,first impresions it doesnt feel as fast as my 08 but time will tell and dealer said it should be quit a bit quicker. As for reliability a freind of mine as 09 bmw wich is pretty much same engine, husky engine is said to be lighter has hydraulic cluch and more power he's 20 stone done about 75 hours with no problems at all so i dont think reliability is going to be an issue.my 08 gearing was all wrong and suspension took me ages to get right but the 449 seems far better in standard form will keep you posted when i have ran her in .and looks the dogs bollocks if that helps

You mention that the 08 gearing was "all wrong". How does it differ from the 11? From the Spec sheet the 08 and 11 seem almost identically geared..
