As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
works surely against branches but what about stones ? My F800GS headlamp got hit by a stone thrown up by a truckI use a heavy plastic film over the head light....3M stuff works good and is easy to clean and replace if needed...
Regarding your set - a couple of curious questions:i just ordered the OEM windshield after learning that it is finally available in the USA. I will report back, and hopefully the windshield mount does not interfere with the touratech headlight stone guard.
Oh, and did I mention the whole project cost me $4.00 and about a half hour of my time.?Here is what is left of the trash bin...I had to make a template first. The second attempt seemed to work perfect. I have no problem with it since I am not looking through it and there is no loss of vision on the road or trail. It honestly looks like it belongs with on the bike..
Factory wind screen report. I just installed the Husky replacement wind screen and like it very much. I am 5'8" and the wind is just at the base of my helmet. The helmet is in clean air and quiet at speed. The wind management on the bike with the factory hand guards is good. I do not like sitting in a still air pocket or getting buffeted around behind an ill working wind screen, it get's over a 100 in summer over here in summer. So, no pressure on the chest, clean air on the helmet, nice amount of air flow over your hands for hot weather and just a lite breeze around my body.
Has anyone tried the one from Bill's?

I just picked up my factory windshield this morning. I rode to work on the freeway (at various speeds and behind several different sized vehicles) so that I could get a good baseline for the comparison. I may install it at lunch and then go for another quick ride if I have enough time (been out of town all last week and have a huge expense report to process). More to come...
It works great but I got some ear buffeting. I remounted the windshield with a couple of small foam spacers at the bottom to make a space between the windshield and the stock plastics. A quick and easy thing to do with the adjustable arms and thumbscrews. Bill had mounted it behind the plastics. Buffeting went away!
This convinced me, I'll pick up an OEM soon.I got it on at lunch and it is MUCH smoother! No more feeling like someone is constantly slapping my head around.![]()
Not a big fan of big windshields so thought I would try the OEM windscreen and can say it works for me.This convinced me, I'll pick up an OEM soon.
