  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Class
Hi, Just got a new te 310. Rear brake doesnt seem to have much stopping power. Anybody had this problem.

I use the rear brake alot. On my 09TE450 when brand new was very strong and either on or off- not as weak or seemingly progressive as I was used to. So the rear would lock up alot... Now it is perfect- I can use it progresively or lock up with ease to swing the rear around if need be in tight sections. Basically the change came from the rotor/pads being worn in a bit.

I would definately bleed it well- then if you don't like it- ensure it is adjusted to your liking. It may not be set high enough for you making you reach to get to the point it is doing its work...

Something is up, huskys have very strong brakes. Wonder if some lube got on the rear disk and contaminated the pads.

my front brake has gotten a bit spongy lately but i actually prefer it that way. i have to pull the lever quite a bit to lock it up now so it's more forgiving for a spazz like me to use.

A spongy brake could be a precursor to a calamity. It is an indication of wear or insufficient fluids. personally I would have a close look, hate to have a failure when in a difficult and pressing situation.

i changed the fluid recently and when i bled the brakes i just stopped when it got the pressure back that i wanted. fluid is new and the line appears to be in good shape. it got spongy from not topping off the fluid as the pads wore down to oblivion, i'm pretty sure i just left a touch of air in the system. hopefully i don't become a statistic because of it.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Had the brake bled at the dealer but it really didnt have any air in it and we thought it might improve with a few rides. I,ll have to get back to the dealer as the rear brake really is weak. Pads seem to contact disc ok but just not gripping as they should. This is my first Husky so hopefully we can sort it out.
