• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hello, new guy here, First post. Looking to purchase a Husky after many years of wanting a Swedish ride. Looking for a WR & in my area I have an opportunity to look at a few generations of the model I always liked. A '78, an '80 & an '84. What do you guys think is the most desirable? Parts availability? Fun to ride? I'm not looking for a coffee table or a garage queen. I want something I'm going to ride & enjoy. I'm quickly familiarizing myself with all the frame / engine differences & history. What I don't know is what the enthusiasts (like you lot here) think. Thanks!

The three years you listed above the 84 250WR would be the best handling and good power. Although I hate the plastic tanks. The next best and the one I would want would be the 1980 model. Good power, lots of low end torque good suspension with Ohlins shocks and the forks were upgraded and has the metal tank. My all time favorite if you can find one is the 81 or 82 430WR or the 81/82 420AE.

Your input appreciated! I like the white bikes too! It's a road trip to go look at. The owner of the '80 is claiming it is a 5 speed & that didn't sound right. Someone "mistakenly" painted over the motor plate, so I can't see the prefix. The '78 is all original, but needs work to get running. Seller out of the country at the moment. Still searching.. I'm a 250 kind of guy, but I'll look at the 430's. Thank You.

I'm partial to the 78 ML framed Huskys because of the 29 degree frame they are great for tight woods riding 250 WR or CR.
