• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

WR LC 400 twin shocker - time for some TLC

Hi Surprize, well you have been busy. That is the thing with an already running bike.

Great job and fresh lease of life. The more heat cycles you can do the better before riding.

starting nicely, not a huge amount of comp but i probably need to retorque the head and cyl studs after a few more runs. did i mention the clutch? new plates and its like a hot knife thru butter, smooooth, no slip (yet) and absolutely faultless click into gear ...no drag clunk or pull on the chain.. just like a new hydraulic clutch.... did i mention the boyesons?? seem to have really smoothed out the hit so nice work...i need some new grips and cables and its back in business

Good job, sounds like your wrenching skills are pretty good. Theres nothing like a fresh rebuild that performs well. :applause:

So 8 years later, all sorts of stuff has befallen the scooter...
having refreshed the motor as above, i fell for the old Woosner drama of not enough clearance. but it was in 2020 before it let me know!
id ridden numerous Vintage enduros, competed in the Australian 3 Day Vinduro (time card event) and was out trailriding with some mates when an impromtue race saw her stick momentarily... When i took it back to mr rebore man, he said in his words ï bored this one pretty tight as you said you would run it in" and i assumed he was all over the woosner effect but no.. anyway, a quick hone saw it cleaned up and still at woosner real clearances so that was that...but it wasnt. next ride i was buzzing along and we start leaning out, pinging, motor seemed hot so a bit of investigation seemed to show overheating? water pump impellor was pretty shaved off so a mate had a spare but made no difference...must be the crank seal?? replace that ..still bing bing bing... lots of wd 40 spraying for leaks showed nothing untill i noticed the base gasket had gone from the transfer port on one side!! the gasket had gone all goey and just melted?? weird.. new gasket fixed that!
Now we are talking, running a treat, absolutely flying...very happy ... wait!! whats that noise??? BIG END! (was the original.. i suppose it was gunna go with a new top end....at least it didnt fully collapse.. so refresh all that and up and running again going well...
The 2023 Vinduro season arrives and off to teh Won Wron event we go...blasting around some great sandy roads in and out of the ferns in teh back sand dune areas, great fun! hmmm clutch is slipping...next thing we are down to 3rd..2nd and paddling in first, no clutch drive.. back to camp on the trailer of shame...new set of plates and we are good to go....mid year and we front up at the Harrow international 2 day Vinduro and on lap 2 im in the middle of a huuuge swamp and the bike is sitting idling parked up against a tree while i investigate my next move when it stops...no go, had to push the f*&^&cker 150 metres through a marshy swamp to get the trailer of shame again...who would have thought the 38 year old motosplat would fail??? so atm it has a Elexctrix world ignition that im still finding the sweet spot of timing...it starts just by looking at it but it has no real top end like it used to...im about to advance it a tad more...
So ive replaced everything now and hoping to get a good run out it for a few years but at 66 the bigger bike is starting to tell me whats happening so i may be looking for a 175 or a 2hunge to keep riding....
