• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

WR125 vs WR250 vs TXC250

I took out the TXC 250 yesterday for the first time. I had a blast. I was impressed with the motor. It was very tractable and had good throttle response. It was setup with 13/52 gearing and worked great. The trails were tight, slick, rocky and rooty with some sections of riding up small streams. The suspension is stock so that will need some work but it handled well and soaked up the rock sections with very little deflecting. Since this was my first ride since last spring and still nursing my right knee from surgery 2 weeks ago I didnt ride very aggressive. I would like a little more low end but once I get up to speed I probably wont miss it. I made a good choice picking this bike over the WR125.

Sounds like a very good first ride! I like that small (and shallow) stream stuff!

I ride the same bike ... Seems like a very good woods / trail / ST bike to me ...
Here are a couple of threads on the forks ... Mine were a little harsh and deflected a little when I first got it, but I went to 5wt oil to add plushness and bled the forks' bladder as outlined below and they got much better ... Then I set the sag via the clips on the forks as shown below, and the forks are very good for me now ... As of now, I run very little sag ... Seems to work for me now :)

Setting the rear sag was critical also ... Turn those darn clickers ncluding the HS one!!! ... Adjusting it got rid of the high-speed 'hard hit' .... Just maybe keep track of where U started :)

Fork bladder bleeding ..

Good for you! I got to ride my friend's '10 TXC 250 the other day. It's a great bike in everyway, but I'm very happy with my '09 WR125 and I'll stay 2 stroke. When I get my Factory 144 kit, I'll be even happier!

I am gonna stay 2 smoke 2...but if ever i have to change it will be a 250f...I love the 125 small, light, easy to ride...and i had a guy on a berg 390 say "thats a 125...man you were lugging it"...plus the 1 hill i got stuck on I just walked next to it for about 15 ft and off I went...he was still there...

You really need both. :D

I`m going to need the suspension revalved eventually. Any suggestions on suspension tuners. I mostly ride in tight, rocky and rooty single track with some occasional sand races and occasional mx.

LT-Racing, House of Horsepower, ACE are all highly recommended. LT-Racing is hard to beat. Great guy, excellent prices and very good suspension.
