  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc WR144 Dead Engine Start!

I rode today and it worked a bit better but still could not get a consistant one kick start. It seemed to work best when I gave it about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. I may try a 35 pilot. I did try the trick by dartyppyt of pulling the choke in as you push the kill button and that seemed to work.

Yeah, try the 35. Your gettin there! I just finished up on my new carb and final porting mods. I guess I had mine a little lean and went up on my pilot. Now it starts again 1st kick.

I put in a 35 pilot and rode a Grand Prix on Sunday. The bike started on the second kick. I crashed on the first lap trying to pass a KTM 450 at the top of a hill. He turned in front of me and I hit him. I went down and he kept going. Got the bike started and noticed after about a half a lap that I was losing power. Wouldn't even wheelie on the pavement! I figured the screen on the spark arrestor was geting plugged so I stopped where I found a stake lying on the ground. Used it to tear out the screen and holy shit! All of a sudden it ws making way more power. I had to be careful on the pavement sections not to pull the font end too high. Didn't wait for the results. Bottom line is I'm having a blast riding this thing. Oh yeah, I ordered an FMF Turbinecore off of E-Bay. No more Leo Vince for me!

Yep. There was a reason they quit using screens in the 2t silencers back in the early 70's. I was really surprised LV was selling them.
