  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ok, yes, the PWK is really a good mod and worth the money. More linear powercurve and more easy to jet. Just look here at our jetting threads=). Everyone (almost)who has changed carb really like the PWK. With the PWK, high comp head, right jetting and Leo Vince silencer my bike delivers close to 50 bhp. My Mikuni has found it,s place on my sons WR 125 2008 instead=)! I personally have no problems with the cable clutch. I don,t think it,s that heavy actually. One thing that bothers me a bit is the clutch drag. That gives me some issues when the bike dies and when i,m standing still. it,s hard sometimes to get it in neutral. I will look at some other transmission oil. I think it,s a good idea to go up in springs for you, especially at front. i would like mine stiffer too, and i weigh arond 87-88kg,s.
did the hi comp head just bolt straight on-no mods? what piston/gasket are you using? clutch pull aint the worst but it definitly aint the best either(& no im not an office worker with girly hands but by the end of the day im feeling it!). why husky dont just stick a hydro clutch on standard is beyond me when every other 300 has one stock not to mention a map switch, clear fuel tank, chrome pipe & 6 speed!. id gladly pay more retail price for it. i know cable is simple & easy to fix but really you cant compare it to a ktm or gasser(be honest) & ive only ever seen one leaking diaphragm in my time reliability wise in favour of hydro. grouse donk but husky need to pull their finger out in regards to the rest of bike componentry. clutch drag can be a pain in the arse but ive just accepted it as normal. motul transoil seems good-a little pricey tho

Yep, just bolt on! I used my old gasket. Nothing wrong with it. yes, a clear line or something on the fueltank would be good, to see the level. i agree with you about what should be good to have on the bike! My honda CR 500 is a 1999 model and it,s much easier on the clutchpull and there is no drag either.

If you get the race head it is worth also getting two of the water hose banjos that screw into the head. The originals are thread locked into the head and are very thin and easy to round off/strip threads.

hey twatty howd you re-route your clutch cable? got an EZ pull lever im gonna try too! be nice if manufacturers gave you options on spring rates when you buy a bike instead of one size fits all, couldnt be that hard & expensive surely
Hey mate, I posted pics of my clutch cable routing here; http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/wr300-basket-of-clutch.21868/
I agree about the spring rates, I love Husky's cos the fit my 6'2", 106kg frame better than any other bike, then they go and fit them with springs suited to a 14 year old gymnast, WTF! I have a mate who weighs 65kg and he reckons the springs in my bike are even too sof for him! who are they for?!!!
