  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Today I went up to Loveland, Colorado and picked up my new 2010 TXC 250! Northern Colorado Euro is a great shop BTW- these guys are great to do biz with, made me an excellent deal and were pleasant the entire time. :applause:

I have not put on all my gear and gone riding yet- but did ride it (gently) for an hour up and down the street to heat cycle it. Took off the 40T rear sprocket (that MUST be there for some emissions law somewhere) and installed the supplied 50T. Swapped out the mufflerized air filter frame for the wide open one and pulled out the SA for fun.

I must say that this feels like one rather amazing machine: super light, sexy looking and sounds good too!

I have ordered an iBeat and will get to the tuning as soon as it arrives. I have access to a dyno at my shop so I will be making a new thread with lots of dynos and data to share with the group.

I dropped it off at BRP Moto so Jim could have a look at it and do some measuring for parts. I should have it back in a few days- stay tuned!:thumbsup:

Awesome, congrats! I was just passing my Loveland yesterday on my way to DIA after spending a couple days skiing at Keystone......would have stopped had I known there was a dealership. Peace.

Yes, congrats! They sure have a unique starter motor sound don't they? Did you pull the O2 sensor and install the jumper as well? Thanks for letting BRP take a look at it. I'm sure we'll be reaping the benefits of their excellent aftermarket stuff do to your efforts.
 
Congratulations, don't forget the honeycomb emissions in between the pipe and the start of the silencer.

The starter sounds like a tiny 18 wheeler- poooossssshht! :lol:

I should be getting my iBeat today, once I get it back from BRP I will do the full "competition" mode (no O2, remove CAT and set up with iBeat).

Did you crank your suspension down till it has fully broken in. They ride a bit stiff (:lol:) for the first little while.

I didnt crank it down yet- I will likely just ride it gently this week end on some trails and break it in. Once I get 5+ hrs on it I will do a proper set up of the suspension. :cheers:

All kinds of lovely CNC alloy parts. I think Jim is measuring up my bike to make a top triple clamp for an under mount Scotts stabilizer.

Ive got one of Joe Turners batteries waiting to be put in (light is fast according to Colin Chapman)- it will need special love to stay put. I do like how the battery is on a long "leash" so you can hang it out of the bike to change the filter.:D
 
I got to ride today- went down to Pueblo early in the AM (to PMI). Ran a bit on the MX track before all the real speedy kids started passing me in the air :eek:

I did a few hours of the wandering trails- every hour that passed the bike ran better and better. The suspension is amazing- I weigh 155- it just eats it all up with aplomb. Very nice machine indeed. This bike handles really well- turn in is crisp and it feels like a 125 2S- flick flick flick. It is pretty lively on bigger rocks and roots in certain conditions. A stabilizer would help a ton.

I got one of BRP's under mount bar mounts ordered for my Scotts stabilizer and some trick pieces from BONZ to mount some composite Cycra hand guards. After that Im leaving it alone- its just about perfect for me. :cheers:
 
Your neighbors from Hiway Dirt Bikes make some really good guards and top clamp set up. Threaded insert type with flip out mirrors if desired. Top notch!
