• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Yamaha electric motorcycles to enter production in 2016

And don't worry...you\1st world folks will be riding one in your lifetime :0) ... Just please don't cry and complain when the top-notch dirt bikes we ride today are no-more ...

Soon they will be lighter, faster, go further and require WAY less maintenance and no one will cry. Switchable powerbands, traction control, unlimited upgradability, many apps to tweak to your desire. Will make infinitely controllable 2wd an easy reality too. I look forward to it.

That's great for you young guys, but some of us are off that boat ...We'll finish life at a point we found interesting and can afford. Sorry, but there is a limit to all things :)

Here is an entry point here and people find them interesting due to the low cost and ZERO gas costs... States lead the way!102_0721.JPG

Here's some controller info for an ELEC engine ... This will not be black box stuff as all the EFI \ ECU stuff is like today ... So I'm guessing, many shade tree mechnics might have a fair chance at controlling an ELEC engine with their own design ... Same as we could with the old fashion CARB bikes and engines .. We gotta move on to latest and greatest... Time waits for no man :)

These bikes could have a reverse gear also ... Feel free to scratch your head on that one also ...:)

If there was an adult sized electric trials bike available here for a reasonable price.... I would buy one tomorrow.
Silent backyard fun.
That OSET kid needs to hurry up and grow up!

An ELEC bike along with smaller scooter type bikes would benefit the states greatly many ways... If for no other reason than to cure parking ... But look at the money made off parking cars around the states ... You are battling great powers changing things like this in the states.

Don't worry, your day will come ...

Would be great:thumbsup:

Although, it would take away the ability to annoy those pesky neighbors down the street(you know the ones) by 'rev-tuning' your bike in the garage......:D

I like that sound ... it's the sound of freedom in many many ways. I'm ok with the smoke, if any...

With that said, there is a thing called showing and giving respect to others around you. It is a vital part of freedom that gets lost in the equation so often.

How do you let your buddy know you are knocking on the door behind him if you don't have your raspy engine note to put him off his game? :D

 Hopefully in the next few years...

There is a full size elec trials available but they're approx $10,000... ouch no way. I think the brand is Kuberg.

Looking at the recent past history of biking, the Japanese lead the way with some orange tossed it ... Having yamaha on board here says a lot...

My poor neighbor was outside gardening last weekend, no man-made noise to be heard, just birds chirping and her raking.
And then... I did a few quick test loops after playing with mufflers...
I felt so lawless :o

Ah, the serenity!:)

The only thing I like more than serenity is a dirtbike at full noise clicking through the gears!! :D

Looks like they got a kids bike happening too wich makes a ton of sense to me. Ride at home no noise issues, controllable power settings, no hat parts to burn kids, no smell, almost zero maintenance.

I bought my 4 year old daughter a Kuberg Start electric bike last December. Bought her a PW 50 a year earlier. She never took to the PW and we ended up selling it . I can't keep her off her electric bike. in one weeks time she was at max power out of 5 power levels. The PW was wider heavier harder to start and harder for her to ride. If she falls over on the electric bike she has no problem picking it up on her own and restarting it. Couldn't do that with pw.......From first hand experience kids really should learn on electric bikes first they just make more sense.

the dirt bike should/could have re gen braking . could do away with the hole rear brake setup . extend battery life etc . and would offer amazing feel/modulation
be especially good on down hills /trail rides as itd function like engine braking .
