I've had my bike now for 1500kms and average about 320kms before the fuel light comes on and then when the fuel light dose come on. I get about 45kms with the light on and have never run out of fuel. To fill the tank full is about 14.5L. I reset the trip meter each tank fill so far i have found this is the best way to keep a good idea on how much fuel i have left and have all so found apart from city riding, highway and off road is just about same km in fuel usage. i have the 48hp version. Could some one that has the 58ph version let me know what kinda kms they get off a full tank. just to see how much the extra 10ph uses in fuel.

Depends entirely on how you use (or abuse) the throttle. For me, in normal riding, I get between 24-25 K's per litre. Chasing some litre-bike friends the other day, basically wringing it's neck, dropped that to 20-21. You are doing VERY well, I would never have dared to try and get 365K's (and more?) from a tank...would expect to be pushing by then.

When my Terra was low-power version I got about 3.7lt/100km which works out to about 380km/tank so probably expect the low fuel light to come on around the same mark you're talking about. After it was made high-power, my consumption averaged 4.2 lt/100km. After installing the Wuka-king booster plug, that consumption increased slightly to about 4.3lt/100km. I estimate the range to be about 330km but have never gone further than about 310km. The most I've ever put into the tank was 14.4 litres, however I don't believe I really go that much fuel from the pump.

Well, the UG and Trip Odometer zeroed the last time I disconnected my battery to install my Fuzeblock. This weekend I did the same thing, but this time to change out some fuses and clean up my original Fuzeblock install. I had the battery disconnected for over 12 hours. Wouldn't you know it, this time the UG and Trip Odometer DID NOT reset.

Are you running a PCV and a Fuzeblock?

ok, thanks. was just wondering where everyone was placing all the extra elec. wiring items.
I have a PCV, so I need to use a very small fuseblock

You can fit a whole mess of stuff in the tail of the bike. Just requires a few extra inches of wiring.

    Grabbed a spare litre of juice, filled her to the brim and ran her dry the other day;

Fuel light came on at 293k
    Bike stopped at 355k
    Fuel fill took 15.7L

So thats 4.42L per 100k or 22.66k's per litre...not doing the gallon thing, cause you guys all have different ones....lol

Mix of highway riding 3 hours, round town 1.5 hours, and gravel roads 2 hours where the "read line" got a nudge a couple of times.

Yes. Including tonight, on my way home on Interstate 5, surrounded by traffic going 70MPH. The fuel light on my bike is a fucking joke. Tonight the low fuel light came on, then I ran out of gas 1.4 miles later. I'm going to start carrying a small emergency fuel bottle with me and watching the used-fuel meter like a hawk. I shouldn't have to do that though, and I'm worried that one of these times I won't be so lucky as to be in the left or right hand lanes. I should have at the very least a good 5mi before running out. The dealer I bought the bike from has pretty much dropped any/all support until he gets new diagnostic tools from KTM...by then my bike will no longer be on warranty. I'm kind of pissed about having a new bike that's still on pretty much a worthless warranty.

That is very atypical from what most people report. According to most riders, the UG is spot on, and the low fuel light comes to warn you at least 20 miles before empty. I've pulled 34 miles out of my reserve before.

I would troubleshoot this a bit on your own. Fill the bike up full and zero your trip odometer and UG. Then run it completely empty. I ran laps around a gas station when I got close. Annotate miles and UG, and then exactly how many gallons it took to fill up. Your numbers should look like this:

UG: 3.6-3.7 (Tank is 3.7g capacity. Most people run dry somewhere between 3.6-3.7 UG, meaning there is about 1/10th of a gallon of play.)
Miles: Will vary per rider, but this will become your new "I need to get gas" gauge.
Gallons to fill: Should match UG at 3.6-3.7g.

If your numbers don't look like this, then something is amiss. I haven't looked into the fuel tank, but there might be a possibility of air being trapped. If the tank uses a float to measure, then it is likely that maybe your float is just stuck. The guys who have installed the Safari tank may be able to provide more insight on this.

Also, many people fill their tank up with the pump at full blast. I find this method backfires, as the turbulence prevents the tank from filling completely. I stick the nozzle in as far as it goes, and slowly fill it up, allowing it to click off on its own.

No float in the fuel tank. UG is calculated by the ECU based on cummulative injector pulsewidth. Low fuel light is not accurate as it comes on too late.

So this is something that a reflash would probably fix. I don't see a problem across the board here. Many have reported on this thread that they've had quite good results out of the low fuel light. I'm one of them.

Actually the low fuel light would be based on level so there must be some sort of float switch or capacitive strip that responds to a low level. The owners manual says it should come on with three litres remaining but it is a lot less than this, around 0.5L and that's riding on asphalt!

OK, that makes a bit more sense. I figured there had to be some sort of mechanism to read the level. My manual says fuel reserve is 2.5L, or 0.66gal. That would make my low fuel light spot-on accurate.

My UG number is pretty accurate, what isn't working is when the low fuel light comes on. It used to come on when I had X many miles remaining, where 'X' was a reasonable (though not extremely long) distance, and it never left me stranded. In the past I've never had to closely monitor the UG number, and relied mostly on the fuel light. But it seems that all of a sudden the light isn't coming on until the very last second. I've run out of gas twice this month. The last two fill-ups in fact. I'm not sure what changed/moved/broke, but coasting to the side of the freeway hoping you don't get plowed into by a car going 70 MPH is not my idea of a good time.

My guess is that the sensor is physical (not based on UG) because in the past I've noticed the light come on, stay on for ~10 miles, then actually turn back off for a mile or so, then turn back on. I'd take a guess that it's a solid-state sensor, but a sensor nonetheless (and not based on the ECU).
