  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Interesting mods and bits for the new Husky

Seems 7602 has the proper color to match my bike. Coozy color I mean...LOL I

Haha, I completely forgot we packed coozies in the rad brace packages. Sorry I told you we were out when you ordered.

"You need to completely remove the radiators to install the kit"

Curious to see how the fan mounts or does the bracket go around it?

The fan mounts directly to the new guard. I will need to drill the rivets out to remove the fan from the rad. I'm not concerned with the process and its in my comfort zone. I worked as a aviation structural mechanic for 8 years for uncle Sam. I've seen my share of rivets...

Why would I do that? I'm guessing to avoid puncturing the clutch cover if things go badly?
You should see the gigantic hole in Justin's case cover. And of course you cannot weld it because it is made of some funky worse-than-husky pot metal sold to the lowest bidder.

If that does happen then I would be forced to replace it with this... Of course that's if I had enough JB Weld to make it back to camp.

Oooooo! Box number 2 showed up. Chums hooked me up with a slightly used BRP sub mount for a Scotts damper at a great price too. Just finished installing it. I pulled the throttle cables to the side to take the picture. Here is a really crappy nighttime garage picture.

I ordered the hard parts fuel sock as well. Kinda sucks when filling the fuel tank with the sock in there since it slows down the flow a bit but it should help protect the fuel components.

The fuel sock is horrible and the tiny filter in the quick disconnect is as well. Fortunately the 501 comes with much larger orifices on the fuel injector than the 450s. We created a 10 micron stainless steel fuel filter to solve this issue. There are two filters in your fuel tank, so no fuel sock is necessary. Also, we are a SAR dealer, so anything you need from them, we can order for you.

I asked Tinken one day if there is a fuel filter on the 511 and how often I should service it. He said no need. This confuses me as all my KTM buddies are always all over cleaning the 20 filters on their bikes and still having issues. I do know that the KTMs seem to shed a lot of black plastic tank flashing material. I have seen it with my own eyes. I've had zero issues with my 511 in 5500+ miles but both my KTM350 riding buddies has issues on their bikes at less than 2000 miles. why is this?

My buddy has one of the socks on his 350 EXC so I ordered one from my dealer. I just called them to cancel it. How do I get the ZipTy one and do you have the part # handy? Thanks

A bunch more boxes showed up this week so here are some items.

New Husky factory tall seat, Sicass rear brake switch, plate holder and a G2 dirt tamer. All got installed without issues. Plug and play.

Here are some pictures of the rivet removal process needed to remove the radiator fan from the right side radiator. 5/16" drill bit and a steady hand and you're done.
