Rained today and it reflects in the scores for the USA. Clear down to 7th. Juniors not so bad. Better tomorrow.
Fred really is the man. I actually have told Husky NA that they should do a little more to promote his ISDE accomplishments. I don't know the actual numbers, but he has to be second all time for number of rides behind Fredette. He also has to be somewhere very close to the top in gold medals. For comparison sake, it has changed a little with the advent of the "C1" class. But he continues to rack up the numbers and be the perennial top American club rider. Not that it makes any difference in anything, he and I are not even on the same page of talent, but I am actually just a tick older than he is.
Looks like he's in 'C2 class" number 417...currently 11th... Go to link below, click on Day 4, (today is day 5 but the times are not all in)...and check ''C2 Progressive" You can check special test/day/progressive... http://www.fim-isde-live.info/
Fred is the man for sure. I'm not positive on the numbers, but he has to be closing in on 25 ISDE's and definitely top US rider for Gold's at 16. Fred has only had 1 or 2 dnf's and always been on Gold or Silver and never Bronze. Czech ISDE 2002, he was the only US rider on Gold and I think Chilly rode that one. Fred will ride the ISDE no matter what, Trophy Team or Club Team. He'll also share his vast knowledge of how to get it done with any rider. Fred has ridden Husky longer than anyone (albeit with interruptions)... Swedish, Italian and German owned.
I'm told by the ISDE watchers that Jeff Fredette and Fred Hoess both have a Euro style which bodes well for their ability's in the format of the Six Days. They are very consistent day to day even like yesterday with the muddy conditions. Husky is doing themselves an injustice by not using Fred as a flagship. Tough as the Welsh with skills to match. Look at the time difference between the British and French Jr.s and the USA. Wow
http://www.offroadchampions.com/ has the charts (need updating) of competitors and the numbers for the amount of ISDE participations and other stats. Got some stuff up there that I never realized ex. Peterhansel 5x OA ISDEs. Fredette, Hoess, Drew Smith and Randy Hawkins all have high on the chart top numbers of ISDE competitions, LR is also on the list with 13. Their names are among greats of the sport.
Thanks Chilly! I was just about to post the link to your site. I've been looking at it every day and you have best info on the USA Team!
Course we do Chilly, no really. I'm making plans for Sardinia next yr., i have followed the ISDT for 40yrs. it only gets more interesting. It could be a whole magazine by itself, it doesn't get the press it deserves. Our teams and club riders are world class and yet look what the Euros do to put us at a lower position, this is the real story. We should make this 6 days deal our main focus yearly.
Reason they won't help Fred is simple They are Jealous, Reason he didn't get his bike until the very last second. Later George
Great husky add would be simply fred next to a Husky with enough ISDE medals on his neck to require an armed guard and simply "Invest in gold....buy a Husky" printed on the picture.
Maybe a CH Sponsored husky mounted club team next year. Lots of members and like a couple of bucks per (literallly) NE Gathering helps out the husky mounted riders each year. Maybe start with a joint effort a CH/Enduro360 club team? Or is it a Enduro360/CH club team?
