One of the first statement he made right out of the gate was that hunters weren't able to regulate the deer population in Yellowstone Park. There is no hunting allowed in national parks so I'd say he's absolutely spot on in that regard.
The rangers try to drive them out of the park and have special hunts late. Essentially shooting a cow in a field. Not very effective too.
