I installed hand protectors. Cut the brake lever tip off to make them fit. Not the cleanest solution, but seems to be alright. Got to get a proper shorty lever though, as I plan to race the bike, and pointy levers aren't allowed.

Interesting thing about the kit... Got the protectors from a local no-brand car & bike parts store. I heard from a reputable source that they're exactly the same as the ones Aprilia offer, but for like one fifth of the cost. Aluminium brace and everything.

Joe Mo, You should come out to Warwick in the weekend. We're having Southern Downs (incl Supermoto's) and i'll be having my 449 there. Would be super interested in your air box mode!!!

Hey guys, got a few mods to my TE...

Converted to SM, alpinas, beringer, etc. running the JD tuner and race II map.

Some future plans are: Akro evolution ti exhaust, 2012 rear fender, revalve suspension for supermoto, and some xtrig triples.

Wondering about removing the secondary butterfly in the throttle body. Heard a few people who have done it, but no details. May end up putting a TC throttle body on. Love the bike as it is, but always looking to improve.

    Few pics:

Wheels were $2400, front caliper/rotor $700. Scored the bro14 master cyl used for $100...brakes are worth every penny! Alpinas...ah, they are light and get everyone's attention. Just as good as any ol set of excels

At Lakeside Raceway we use the small track in the back! You need sliders (axle, pegs) no side stand, no louder then 90db (I run my Arrow with db inset and it passes - you loose a bit but you have a track you can go nut on!) Leathers and so on - i'm sure its written somewhere ! It's good fun and cheap - $50/$70 for a day!

Drilled a row of 8mm holes in the top of the air-box. Did it up there to prevent hot air from the radiator to be sucked in. Haven't tested it yet! If it doesn't work then I'll just put some gaffatape over it!

If it's not enough i'm looking at drilling some holes where I've marked it with a red circle but not sure if it will suck to much hot air in there as well?!?!

I hear the TC throttle body makes a difference. Not sure if there is a 12 hole injector also. TC also has different cams...

Are the TC models putting down more power?

Stock TC449's seem to put out about 3-4 more HP than a stock TE 449's, they don't make a TC 511 so can't compare, they have single butterfly throttle bodies, different velocity stacks, airboxes and cams. Not sure about gaskets or anything else.

Price wise, you're looking at $450 for the cams, $25 for the airbox base, $280 for the TC throttle body (not sure if you need a new harness or any ancillaries), velocity stack to match the TB is ~$15.

If you wanted to get anal you could sift through the parts fiche of the SMR and TC to find the differences!
