George is still producing them at Uptite, and provides either black or red anodized billet cap. It isn't on his web site, but he's old school anyhow so just give him a call at (714) 540-2920 . The cost for the kit is $470 delivered, and is the best money I could have spent on this bike.
Woodschick's New Shoes Hey Woodschick, great looking new tires. For the benefit of the rest of us SM types, what brand, model and size are they? Thanks!
Thanks grif It’s just that sometimes us new schools need some help deciphering the old scholar’s ways… Good stuff, I’m gona assume that’s including the lambda plug and everything, plug and play kinda deal…
Yep, it's all included, and was basically a 45 minute job start to finish for a newby like me. Kit includes exhaust, lambda plug, and resistor plug. Then adjust your idle back down since it will pick up about 400 rpm in race MAP (seems to run smoother and cooler), and explore your rev limiter much more readily. George was more than helpful and willing to share any tips.
They are el-cheapo Cheng Shin 755's and I love `em Got a 5.30 on the rear and a 4.60 on the front. The front is more round and narrow than the MT21 I had on there and it allows the bike to turn without such Herculean effort now. They fit great, no rubbing or clearance issues. The rear turned my 610 into a rototiller Eric said I was throwing up softball-sized rocks and all kinds of other trail junk at him all day. We did some really steep loose stuff and I know I'd have been floundering on the other tires I was running. These gave me great traction and confidence. Best $86 I've spent in a long time I have no idea how well they'll hold up in the long run, but at $86 for the pair I was fully expecting them to be shredded by the end of the week. I think they're going to hold up just fine as long as I stay off the pavement. Eric got a kick out of my tracks. You can forget about that "Tread Lightly" stuff WoodsChick
2008 TE610 had 1400 miles on it when I got it last weekend. The day I picked it up. I've got a Lynx in the mail and aside from sorting out the fueling for the Uptite pipe (I'm way too lean and it bucks badly), for my riding she's 'done'. Though 2" risers and a taller seat are on the waiting list. I had a KLR before this and hadn't ridden in 4yrs, what a tremendous difference. Can't wait to get the cobwebs out and get back on some dirt with it. This bike just feels natural to ride.
You have to put the picture somewhere, size it to 640x480, maybe 1024x768 for a full width one...mine above is 640x480. Get the link URL to the picture after you have it posted on line somewhere and click on the icon in the edit window with the mountain on it. Paste your link URL into the box that pops up. Or you can put it inside the "" tags...if this quotes right.
Wow… Can you tell us about that cylinder in front of the engine and who made those massive pannier holders? Looks very adventurously
That's a tool holder, the cylinder. Those are handy. I had a cheapie sched 80 PVC one I made for my KLR. You can stick your tire irons etc in there. Just got to watch that whatever you put for an end cap can actually be removed....and of course, will stay put with all the vibes.
The cylinder is a tool box, I ordered the Alum tubing from www.onlinemetals.com and picked up the caps from the home center. As for the Wolfman Luggage rack, I build them in my shop and had it powder coated, I can not take all the credit Berg Briggs from Backroadsmoto is the Mfg of the Hoops but he nor Wolfman make a rack for the Husky, so after a few e mails Berg sent me the hoops and some 4130 tubing and I went to work.
